Mr. Musicface Posted December 26, 2002 Author Report Posted December 26, 2002 quote: That should be a really stinkin' fun evening! Indeed! And the rumours of some big-fat jamming at the end of the Seth-set persist, so watch for that! - M.
backbacon Posted December 26, 2002 Report Posted December 26, 2002 I've been looking forward to it for some time... However, it seems I won't be making it out due to another engangement. I would've loved to meet up with some great people and enjoy some great music. Hope all goes well! k
LJFH Posted December 27, 2002 Report Posted December 27, 2002 We will definetly be there for the show...looking forward to seeing everyone. Jod
bradm Posted December 27, 2002 Report Posted December 27, 2002 Pre-show gathering nearby anyone? Gimme a where and a when, and you'll likely see me there. Aloha, Brad
bouche Posted December 27, 2002 Report Posted December 27, 2002 Been looking forward to it for a long time now. That should be a really stinkin' fun evening!
bradm Posted December 28, 2002 Report Posted December 28, 2002 Sounds good. I'll want to be at 3rd Floor Reilly's when the doors open to set up, so I'll try to be on the 2nd Floor a beer or two (read: about a half hour) earlier. Aloha, Brad: Jedi Logistician, But On His Lunch Hour
Mr. Musicface Posted December 28, 2002 Author Report Posted December 28, 2002 quote: Pre-show gathering nearby anyone? Gimme a where and a when, and you'll likely see me there. Actually, the main Reillys room on the second floor has good eats and a nice atmosphere if you're looking for a place. They also usually have the Leaf game on Saturday night's, so all you Sens fans can heckle. - M.
CyberHippie Posted December 29, 2002 Report Posted December 29, 2002 We've got some friends coming into town tonight, so I'm gonna try and talk them into seeing some music. Hopefull we'll be there!
Basher Posted December 29, 2002 Report Posted December 29, 2002 My arm has been twisted - never takes much! See y'all there. Brian
Jaimoe Posted December 29, 2002 Report Posted December 29, 2002 I have to work all night. The earliest I can leave ( for an hour at the most ) is midnight. I hope Hux is still playing then?
Mr. Musicface Posted December 30, 2002 Author Report Posted December 30, 2002 Hey all! Great to see so many of y'all out last night - in particular I got to meet up with bradm, bouche, CyberHippie and the Huxes. Thanks to all who came out, and for those of you who missed out, there will be a reprise of 2/3 of the line-up last night (Uncle Seth & Unclefty) at Clinton's on January 23rd. Uncle Seth are also talking to Dr. Huxtable about an Ottawa appearance, perhaps very soon. We'll keep ya informed, for sure! Peace, Mr. M.
CyberHippie Posted December 30, 2002 Report Posted December 30, 2002 Jay, loved the harp stylings! When I played around with my harmonica I was a firm believer that the harp should be heard throughout the whole song, not just a little here and there. I was also thinking that I'd like to try a mic and use a bit of distortion. It's cool to see I'm not the only one who thinks that way! Hmmm maybe time to pull out the old harp again...
Mr. Musicface Posted December 30, 2002 Author Report Posted December 30, 2002 Thanks! quote: ...I was a firm believer that the harp should be heard throughout the whole song, not just a little here and there. Yeh... it's something that took a while to work out. I like to think of the harmonica serving a similar role to either a keyboard, horn or second guitar in a lot of the songs. To me, if you're gonna approach it that way you've got to be flexible. I use pretty well all the differently tuned harps that Lee Oscar makes (natural and harmonic minor, melody maker as well as the traditional major) and effects so that I can do different things in each song. Hopefully it all works! Glad ya enjoyed it.
