Well, it's a popular choice but Blood On The Tracks is a desert island disc for me. It was the first Dylan album I bought - I was in Grade 6 - and so many years later, it still reveals new things to me. Every line in every song is a work of art in and of themselves. Every song is a classic. It is haunting, deep, spiritual, raw and mysterious and I don;t think I'll ever not want to keep a copy in my collection; it's absolutely essential.

A perfect work of art.

I agree Marc0, BOTT is a masterpiece & favourite studio album of mine,I never tire listening to that album.

edit to add:

I'll make you a copy of "Blood on the tapes" New York sessions,it the outtakes of Blood on the tracks and is equally amazing with twists in lyrics and the tempos of the songs making for a even different outlook on what Bob was getting at.

The two favourite shows I've seen by Bob were in 1996 (I think) when he played with Santana in Toronto, and in 2000 (or something like that) when he played Vancouver along with Paul Simon.

By far, the worst I've seen of him was summer 1989 - Kingswood. He seemed drunk, mumbly and overall lame!

My favourite Bob Dylan Story is by Arlo Guthrie. According to Arlo it went something like this:

"I was going to play (somewhere that StoneMtn can't recall) and I was called by the local paper. They said, 'Bob Dylan is coming to town the same night as you are. Why in the world would anyone come see you?' Well, at that time Bob Dylan wasn't really playing his classics anymore, so I said, 'If they want to see some good ol' Bob Dylan tunes, they have no choice but to come and see me!' I was kidding, but to my amazement, they printed it! I found that out on the night of the show, when there were thousands of screaming Bob Dylan fans in my audience waiting for me to play old Bob tunes. So here I was, backstage, with my Bob Dylan Songbook learning the chords..."

All Along The Watchtower

It was the first time I saw Dylan perform piano live. All the covers were amazing! Especially Dylan covering my other favorite artist Neil Young on "Old Man," and the living tribute to the now late Warren Zevon on "Mutineer." Also my only performances (so far) of "Shelter From the Storm" and "Knocking On Heaven's Door."

this might sound strange, but....

I love my dylan, but I barely "know" his music (ie: shows, songs, recordings, etc). I just know that whenever his sound reaches my ears, I'm loving it! So I guess I'd have to say my favourite is...whenever it's playing on my stereo. I just love it. I'm going to get Booche to play "The Bootleg Series Vol 4 - BD Live 1966 - The 'Royal Albert Hall' concert" when Warren & Friends are done givener at Norberry!
