only recognize two bands on that list...

The Allman Brothers Band

moe.

Are two that you have definitely heard of, so you have never heard of Sir Paul McCartney?

And aren't you going to Jon Stewart, I know he's not a band, but his is on the list?

mcartney not a band, and neither is stewart.

yes, allmans/moe, and the spindoctors are the two bands on the list i am familair with...

I understand that. But McCartney does have a band. Also when you say you have only heard of only two bands on a list and it has solo artists also on that list, one would assume that those solo acts would be included.

You have never heard of Sloan?

sloan?

kinda....maybe.

certainly not a song by theirs (at least not one i know as theirs)...

doesnt matter...just seeing how out of it i'm getting in the 'scene'...

although it seems the 'scene' is changing everyday...

which is a good thing of course...

but i still find myself sitting here, at work, listening to the good ole grateful dead, lol.

ABB and SiguR Ros are good but the others either "suck" or i haven't heard them.

i was thinking of hitting the Bros show but then i'd have to come late and time it so i wouldn't have to lose all of my stomach contents puking repeatedly for moe. if they had new material i'd be more interested. i'd much much much rather see the DTB. i reeeeeeeeally want to catch them live.

What's the deal with Sigur Ros? I have heard of them, but that's all. I gotta put my Massey membership to good use!

Basher, Icelandic band Signur Ros are a great band if you are having trouble sleeping.

All their songs are slllllllllllooooooooooowwwwwww tempo. Kinda like Radiohead's Kid A atmospheric stuff.

thanks, jaimoe...that name has been rattling around in my head since reading it in this thread...i dug through a box of tapes from my brother in vancouver (a huge bjork-head) and found a show that she did with them. it is, iirc, quite good, but very, well, ummm....ethereal. almost as good of a sleep aid as spoken margaret atwood :)

Magnolia Electric Company and (smog) are also playing the region soon... as are the Go! Team.

good stuff.

Anyone who likes dark folk music that leans towards 70's Crazy Horse, must check out Jason Molina and Magnolia Electric Company.

FYI, Jason also calls himself Songs: Ohia. The split MMJ/Songs: Ohia EP is excellent.
