Seriously though, The Word playing at the Labour Day fest is not Medeski's The Word ... it's another band by the same name. The thought of a band called Freekbass playing on the Saturday night of the festival has me grinning from ear to ear, and if their web site is any indication of what we're in for, it's going to be a raging dance party on Saturday Sept. 3 at Izzy's! Cully Posted July 21, 2005 Report Share Posted July 21, 2005 The band listed here as the Word is awesome....I have suggested that they change their name for some time so people don't get confused like this..a lot of people call them the Gormley's as they are made up of 3 guys, two of which are the brothers Gormley (they play some shows in the Hammer and Brantford right now) It should be great, really funky, and they are amazing song writers!!! They've narrowed it down to Phish, Grateful Dead and Pink Floyd...If they plan on playing for a jamband crowd they should change their name...
