7 Hr car trip, how to entertain passenger (s)

Next Friday Gateaux and I have a 7 hour car trip to see my new cottage in Tobermory.

first of all, I was wondering if any Ottawa people have a portable video game thingy we could borrow for Gateaux?

Do you have any other suggestions to entertain a passenger?

It's usually the last 3 hours of the trip that I want to tie him up, gag him, and throw him in the trunk. ;):P ok, ok it's not that bad....(love ya babe!! :) )

How much of a reader is he? A couple of books (especially collections of short stories, which allow the reader to get an entire story "digested" in a short time) would be good. How about crossword (or other) puzzles?

Aloha,

Brad

Reading brings Car sickness

or he can use the time to learn this song by Duran Duran:

"Night Boat"

by Duran Duran

Standing on the edge of a quay no lights flashing on the water for me

Fog in my mind darkens my eyes silently streaming for a distant sound

Ripple river yellows rising for a breath of breeding and drowns

Stillness overcomes me in the night listen to the rising water moan

I'm waiting, waiting for the night boat woo I'm waiting

Waiting for the night boat

Shadows all through me shudder away echo me echo me (echo me)

Am I alone or is the river alive cause it echos me, echos me, echos me

I'm waiting, waiting for the night boat woo I'm waiting

Waiting for the night boat

Waiting (waiting) waiting for the night boat woo I'm waiting (waiting)

Waiting for the night boat waiting for the night boat woo I'm waiting

Waiting for the night boat I'm wating for the night boat

Hand Jobs and Highway Head only work well when I'm the passenger......I get too distracted as the driver. (sorry scottieking if you read this portion of the thread :o )

Hey Freeker By The Speaker...do you think it would work if I just kept repeating "love ya babe" (you know the ton I would be using)

Good ol'Night Boat!

Funny how my story about the black dildo attached to a black drill...named Night Boat....lead to so much fun with the REAL boats on the lake.

Lisa -- are you Hitchhikker's fans? Get the whole series (like 6 discs' worth) and you'll want to stay in the car longer than the 7 hours.

really, any books on tape should help pass the time.

On our looooong drive to/from Florida last year, while I was the driver -- and only person left awake-- I played this game with myself (to keep awake and prevent firey-death-by-car-crash-syndrome). I had to find every letter of the alphabet, in order (no jumping ahead) from either other license plates or road signs. I kinda remember getting stuck on J and Q for a helluva long time. But if not for that, and those bumpy, vibrating raised thingees on the sides of the interstate.....

Snail has a family favourite game he's taught to his daughter and mine..called "Smiles & Oscars". You randomly wave and smile and act silly at passing motorists and chalk up the number of returned smiles/waves VS the number of grouches!

anyway, we have a portable DVD player which obvioulsy doesn't do you any good this weekend, but feel free to borrow it when we're closer whenever you do this drive again!

Hey Sunshine,

Which Friday are you leaving? Kayte and I are going to be on Manitoulin on Sat the 20th for a gig I'm doing up there. We'll be passing through Tobermory - beers?

Hey TomFoolery...we leave this Friday but probably won't get up to Tobermory until 1AM (ouch)

That would have been fun....have a blast at your gig.

My brother and sister used to play the game "Yes/No". One person says "yes" and the other says "no" until someone starts to cry. Usually as a result of the driver going ballistic towards one of the players.

try it out.

Alternatley, the game silence is also a good choice. The loser is the one who speaks or makes a noise first.

I have to stop writing, I am having flash backs of chilhood road trips.
