rubberdinghy
We don't accumulate sick days...I think 6 days would be fair, if, as in my example of the sprained wrist, did not count towards those days if I had a doctor's note. Velvet
The fact that I get no sick days makes me sick.
bouche
I always thought that negotiations were supposed to get a few more things, not take away essential benefits like sick days.

AdamH
Me (Charity sector) - 12 sick days a year, no carryover. No overtime pay. Lower salary than I'd earn in the pvt. sector BUT I get 1.33 paid vacation days per month (16 days a year) and can carry over up to 5. That aspect is what keeps me here. Jakis
bus drivers definitly deserve the extra sick days. Howeverm many hospital workers dont get any sick days. A large amount of hospital employees at least in my department are casual. Which means you are sick you dont have to come in but you are not getting paid. bradm
The union voted in favour of the contract, but not by much. From the CFRA storyBus drivers and mechanics have ratified their contract with the City of Ottawa. The vote took place over two days with fifty two percent of the almost two thousand employees voting in favour of the deal.Aloha,Brad

Douglas
In the government you accumulate sick days. My manager has 9 months of sick days!! I think in most cases like this they get put towards early retirement.ummm...I'm with the federal gov't, and I don't accumulate sick days.
Calamity Jane
I always thought that negotiations were supposed to get a few more things, not take away essential benefits like sick days.gosh, where have you been? Every single contract negotiation I've followed (personally, or through the news) in the last 5 - 10 years, has been about preserving exisiting conditions and benefits and stopping further erosion of what generations previously fought for. I blame it all on feminists entering the workforce. That, and sinful premarital sex. (oh and gay sex, too. That's definitely bad, mmmmmkay?)
