Birdy
At least Umphreys wouldn't stop a show and kick a fan out for making a joke at their names, unlike Mr. Fragile (massive) Ego Ryan Adams....Fan in crowd at Ryan Adams show: "Play 'summer of '69!"Ryan Adams to audience "Get that guy out of here or I don't play another song."Mr Crybaby I'm so damn important then had his manager escort the heckler out of the show, only to have him return shortly after with an apology from Ryan's manager for making him walk out in the first place, to appease Mr. Bigshot. He may write great songs, but what a fucking loser. And crybaby whiner with no sense of humour. boo! i had no idea! he's like the sean penn of musicians. Birdy
you can solve your Particle dilemma by catching them at the Majestic Theatre in Detroit on august 3rd.. then you can sleep over, lunch in Mexican town, watch the Detroit Tigers kill Cleveland at Comerica Park (7.05 game start) then walk across the street to catch the Flaming Lips at the State Theatre. Birdy
heaven forbid an artist having a personality.a personality would say something funny or witty to counteract this ridiculous comment.the loser is the guy calling out for bryan adams' tunes in that story told above.i'd say they're both losers. hamilton
Umphreys may not write touching' date=' heartfelt ballades but they will play CIRCLES around any band out there now. [/quote']You could always rent a Yngwie Malmsteen DVD if you want to see that. I can never quite understand why people are more impressed by virtuosity than they are by talent. And, before someone asks, no - they are not necessarily the same thing.

Umphreys may not write touching, heartfelt ballades but they will play CIRCLES around any band out there now. Context means a lot. Pitchfork: Do you ever wonder if people go to Bryan Adams shows and yell out the names of your songs?Adams: I don't know! I think the only reason that they do that-- I mean, they don't really do it much anymore, I hear it once in a very long while-- is because they think that it actually makes me mad. They think that the song name is what makes me mad, which is absurd. I don't care what they were yelling. The problem is that the guy who was yelling that song title out, the time I got really mad, was yelling it over and over again. And Gillian Welch and David Rawlings were on stage with me, and we were singing a three-part harmony to "Bartering Lines", with no musical accompaniment, except a banjo and his Archtop guitar. So when the breakdown happens, it's just three voices, and the guy yells it out. And I'm so honored to be onstage with those guys, you know? And this guy screaming over them? "Summer of '69"? It's like, you know what, it wasn't fucking funny the first time you did it, which is why nobody laughed. But after eight or nine times? At the Ryman? I was just like, this sucks. These are my friends. Just stop. So when I kicked that guy out, everybody thought it was because he was confusing me with Bryan Adams. But it was more a matter of respect. I mean, come on, there are these bluegrass musicians up here, the best out there that I know of. http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/article/feature/14675/Interview_Interview_Ryan_Adams
