bradm
Check out Open Office, which is a free open-source application suite compatible with Microsoft Office.Aloha,Brad

CyberHippie
Open Office - very cool!I *hate* microsoft office, but I've always been tied to it because it's the standard. Looks like this could be a viable alternative. Are the programs as frustrating to use as their Microcrap look-a-likes?
timouse
dammit...here i spent $79 for star office like a sucker
mattm
I use open-office when using a linux box but for windows it's MS office. If you just want MS office to work, check out http://astalavista.box.sk and search for a serial/crack. Warning, though, this site and doing the search will give you popup headaches but I don't think there are too many programs more than a month or so old that you can't find a crack for there, just make sure you have some sort of anti-popup/spyware thingy installed. d_rawk
Also for a speedier, more lightweight alternative to Open Office, there's always AbiWord
bouche
Bouche...google owns you, right? that would be cool if they did. They're RICH!I'm just impressed with their direction. Nothing really big is going on, but as they add new stuff, I have found it very useful. So far, the Spreadsheet tool and Notepad are my 2 favourite recent additions. bouche
check out AjaxWrite. It's something similar to what google would launch. An online wordprocessor, using AJAX technology to give you instant feedback. However, with online stuff, you rarely get a context menu, so you have to get used to a new interface.
