Check out the credentials for the new Bulldogs GM Julien Brisebois:

BriseBois, who turned 30 on January 24th, 2007, becomes the youngest current General Manager in the American Hockey League. The native of Greenfield Park, Quebec was named the Canadiens’ Vice President of Hockey Operations on July 24, 2006. Originally joining the Canadiens organization on September 1st, 2001 as Director of Legal Affairs, BriseBois was promoted to Director of Hockey Operations and Legal Affairs in July 2003 (note: he would have been 26 years old at the time). His duties include all aspects of contract preparation and negotiation, salary arbitration, player transactions, the interpretation of the National Hockey League’s Collective Bargaining Agreement and League Rules and assessing their impact on day-to-day operations.

Prior to joining the Canadiens organization, BriseBois was practicing at the law firm Heenan-Blaikie, where he represented several National Hockey League and Major League Baseball clubs in arbitration cases, and acted as an advisor in contract negotiations. He also participated in the production of legal documents for the QMJHL and in motor sports.

BriseBois is a graduate of the Université de Montreal Faculty of Law and earned a Masters’ Degree in Business Administration at the John Molson School of Business. He is also a member of the Quebec Bar, the American Bar Association and the Sports Lawyers Association.

I figure they will keep Price in Hamilton this year (at least for a little while) while they play Huet and Halak.

Huet is UFA at the end of the season, so they may want to showcase him for a trade deadline transfer.

Yann Danis is also a UFA at the end of the season. He's currently fourth string goalie in the organization.

He is definitely of NHL backup caliber, so I doubt they'll let him leave for nothing.

It should be a fun year watching the goalies this year.

Viggo f'n Mortensen sports the Habs colours at a recent press conference at the TORONTO International Film Festival. The man known as Aragorn has got some serious pantalones to pull off this move, probably as a dare to the Orcs in the crowd (Torontonians) to come at him. For this I promise to go see whatever movie he is promoting.

Training camp starts on Friday! Around 50 players are expected to receive invites, with the official invite list being released today. Unfortunately all Habs propects that play in the NCAA are not eligible for camp due to the rules which prevents players from accepting money or having their way paid for. This includes David Fischer, Ryan McDonaugh, and Max Pacioretty.

Carbonneau said he would like to keep 8 defencemen, including Markov, Hamrlik, Komisarek, Bouillion, Brisebois and Streit. The names Carbs mentioned would fight for the last available spot include Gorges, Cote, O'Byrne, Rivers, and Dandenault. I guess Carbs isn't all that impressed with Dandenault if he needs to fight it out with two rookies, a borderline career AHLer, and a veteran who is on his 7th team in a 10 year career.

The Habs have also come out and said that Price will either be a #1 in Montreal or in Hamilton.

I'm fucking stoked about the season starting soon!

So's this guy:

Brisebois failed his physical exam today. He's got a nasty groin pull he suffered while training with a bunch of other players last month.

Because of this injury he will miss the majority of the pre-season, if not all of it.

It all starts tonight! RDS will be broadcasting the first pre-season game against the Penguins. I might even get a chance to watch it since RDS signed a deal with the Habs to broadcast all their games online for worldwide distribution!

Because they still have 55 players at training camp, they split the team into two squads- one for tonight's game and one for tomorrow's game. the roster for tonight's game will be:

- Cristobal Huet and Yann Danis in nets.

- On the blue line, Guy Carbonneau will go with Andrew Archer, Andrei Markov, Mark Streit, Mike Komisarek, Mathieu Carle and Josh Gorges.

- The forward lines will be made up of Andrei Kostitsyn, Sergei Kostitsyn, Janne Lahti, Garth Murray, Michail Grabovsky, Tomas Plekanec, Kyle Chipchura, Corey Locke, Alex Kovalev, Jonathan Ferland, Tom Kostopoulos and Duncan Milroy.

The thought of seeing the Kostitsyn/ Grabovski/ Kostitsyn line play tonight made me pee a little.

I didn't get to watch the game last night because nobody was streaming it. Dammit. I'll try again tonight.... At least RDS will be streaming every regular season game online this year!

The line-up for tonight:

Guillaume Latendresse – Saku Koivu – Michael Ryder

Eric Manlow – Maxim Lapierre – Matt D’Agostini

Steve Bégin – Bryan Smolinski – Thomas Beauregard

Jimmy Bonneau – Ryan White – Francis Lemieux

Roman Hamrlik – Ryan O’Byrne

Jamie Rivers – Jean-Philippe Côté

Francis Bouillon – Mathieu Dandenault

Carey Price – Jaroslav Halak

Too bad that George laraque isn't playing tonight because Jimmy Bonneau, the Habs' only goon, is in the line-up. That might be a more even fight.

On the injury front, Chris Higgins still isn't cleared to play, Patrice Brisebois is an old man, Mathieu Carle is out 8 weeks after tweaking the ligaments in his knee last night, Andrew Archer is still looking for his face after meeting George Laraque, and Ajay Baines has got a pulled groin.

Yup, according to TSN Price and Grabovski have made the team. Wow. I thought Price would definitely get a full year of seasoning in AHL.

Not to mention possible future captain Kyle Chipchura also made the team.

Rumour has it that Grabovski will centre the second line flanked by Kovalev and Kostitsyn and that Plex will drop to the third (checking) line with Smolinski moving to the wing and Latendresse on the other wing. The top line is unsurprisingly Higgins/Koivu/Ryder. That leaves the fourth (energy) line for Begin/Chipchura/Kostopoulos.

The top defensive pairing will be Markov/Komisarek, then Hamrlik/Brisebois, and Bouillion/Gorges, with Dandenault/Streit both as auxilliaries who can play either up front or in the back.

Garth Murray will be the seldom used goon.
