Jay Funk Dawg
The third Annual Mark and Mark's Excellent Birthday Adventure Mark Wilson Band & Caution Jam PERFORM FEB.12-13 - HAMILTON & TORONTO The third Annual Mark and Mark's Excellent Birthday Adventure is quickly approaching! Mark Crissinger of Caution Jam & Mark Wilson of Mark Wilson and the Way it Is will be performing together with special guests in Hamilton and Toronto next week. These special shows will celebrate the birthday and musical legacy of two of Ontario's hardest working musicians. Mark Crissinger is a working man's guitarist. Performing in many blues inspired rock bands including The Bluezbuds, The Burt Neilson Band and Classic Rock act Caution Jam, Mark performs upto 100 show a year all over Southern Ontario & Atlantic Canada. Mark is tastefull guitarist in the spirit of BB King, The Allmans Brothers and Albert Collins. With a vast repetoire of classic 70's folk, rock and blues, Mark is also a great singer and songwriter currently working on a solo album of acoustic material. The album is reminicent of his work on Caution Jam's acoustic offering Shady Groove; with laid back acoustic grooves & mischevious lyrics. Mark Wilson is the founder of the Come Together Music Festivals and is a powerful Brantford, ON singer- songwriter. Come Together Festivals have been at the forefront of Ontario's grassroots rock & jamband community for the past 10 years and has presented some of the best homegrown Canadian Talent including: The Burt Neilson Band, The Fat Cats, The Jimmy Swift Band, Wassabi Collective & High Plains Drifter. As a performer Mark's belowing voice and tender lyrics call to mind the works of Paul Simon, CSN&Y and The Band. His songs Diamond Dancing & Sweet Good-bye are currently being mixed for release. He is backed by a talented and rootsy 4-piece band. www.nufunk.ca & www.jambands.ca present... Caution Jam www.cautionjam.com The Mark Wilson Band plus special guests... "These people are supportive and real. They go out and look for music, travel, listen to independently produced music, share." Whether it’s the boat cruises, the Jerry Garcia tribute shows, or the summer festivals, Caution Jam is eager to please. Between events, the guys play shows up and down the Trans-Canada all year long. They’ve toured the east coast eight times now and are always in and out of the Toronto circuit, playing gigs at Comfort Zone, Grossman’s Tavern and Jeff Healey’s bar— to name a few. According to the band, they get warm receptions in all places from Windsor to Collingwood, and Fredericton to Antigonish. Toronto’s jammin’ cowadelic funkgrass blues band. Please post your photos of Mark and Mark if you have some!! I love this shot of Mark Crissinger!

bokonon
looks like some good times are about to be had... my resolution is to stay away from said good times. I've had stints of quitting drinking just to make sure I could, and nothing strengthened my resolve more than being the sober person at the party. But I muse admit, seeing what people are really like is what makes me drink!

mattyp
WOW, I wish I could be up there for this weekend... (though I am being tempted by thoughts of people here talking about roadtrip to Nero)This event was my first musical experience in Toronto, two years ago in 2005, upstairs at ElMo. Mark Wilson was awesome. Blew me away! Possibly best "Me and Julio" I've ever heard. I had a stronger than expected reaction to the birthday cake, and had to leave before seeing any Caution Jam. Didn't know anyone there at the time...Are there any live recordings of Mark Wilson circulating?
edger
Mmmm special birthday cake, now there's an extra incentive. I hope that will be circulating again this year!

Jay Funk Dawg
the Space Cake.. now that's a story!!Grateful Dave (not Dr. Evil Mouse) and I spoke only a week before the show and he said he'd make a space cake for the show, for backstage... Anyways he shows up with 2 fairly big cakes... actually about 50 pieces!! that evening there was some construction happening in the backstage room, so there was no backstage to stash the cakes, instead we had it at the front door. Thinking it was pretty weak space cake, and we had lots of it, I annouced it on stage after Mark Wilson's set that there was bithrday 'space' cake available to anyone interested. After two pieces and about half and hour, I was a mess.. I ended up onstage with Caution Jam almost unable to move or play. It was at that time that I found out the owner of the place, who incidentally also consumed 2 piece of cake, was rushed to the hospital because he started to feel "weird & emotional". I remember not being able to say more than a couple words at a time, my body froze up! Incidentally things did get worse, my car was towed.Luckily everything worked out.. and they've subsequently forgave me at the EL Mo.add that story to Can Jam folklore!
