dave-O
From TSN.ca:"A plan to switch back to the schedule the leagues used prior to the lockout, featuring six divisional games and 18 games against the other conference, received 19 of 30 votes. A two-thirds majority, or 20 votes, was needed to make the change."
Kanada Kev
Who are the fucking holdouts! This is ridiculous. People want to see more teams, not less. The rivalries have not gotten better, they've been diluted. Does the NHL want to make use of it's young Star Power or not? No Crosby, Ovetchkin, Malkin, A few of the Staals, etc. heading out west much. How idiotic. And all for what? To save a few bucks on airfares? The owners have saved enough money with the salary cap already, and are charging ever increasing prices for tix. This sucks
dave-O
I'm with you Kev. I hope someone leaks exactly who voted for which option. The nays deserve a public flogging.
AD
it was a western owner who doesn't want his star players tired and hurt from all the added travel.**obviously

Kanada Kev
REVEAL THE BALLOTS!! Which of the arses is/are responsible for this.I have lost whatever shred of respect I had for any of the NHL owners. Greedy bastards.

ollie
Last seson I liked the idea of more divisional matchups. This year I am so sick of seeing Ottawa vs. Boston on the schedule. Boo-urns to the vote.
Kanada Kev
I'm sick of Boston too ... I bet that Sinden is one of the jerks who voted to keep it the way it is ... asshole!
SevenSeasJim
It is believed the Montreal Canadiens may have been the only Canadian team to vote against the change.''I'm very comfortable with the decision that was taken,'' said Canadiens president Pierre Boivin. ''Let's finish the cycle and take the time to carefully think about a solution.''

Booche
So, what about the players in all of this?Dont you think they had opinions much like Joe Thortons?I know if I were playing in the NHL, I wouldnt want to travel anymore than necessary and would eliminate as much as possible. As far as marketing the league with budding stars, you obviously want them to play in every city. As a fan, this sucks but you all need to open your eyes a little more. This aint just the owners.
Kanada Kev
I didn't hear about the polling of players by owners (run with that ) or the NHLPA involved in any of the discussions about this. It's the owners who vote on it, nobody else, right?
Booche
Kev, you dont think the owners listen to the players at all?You also think you need to hear about informal polls for them to be a reality?
SevenSeasJim
Joe Sakic said he didn't care if he travelled a little more. (just one players opinion)
ollie
I know if I were playing in the NHL, I wouldnt want to travel anymore than necessary and would eliminate as much as possible.Boo hoo. Travelling is in the job description. Player's lifestyle should not come at the expense of the entertainment of the game.

dave-O
The players fly to every game as it is. What's another hour or two on the occasional flight? I know Sakic agreed with this yesterday, I bet many other players would too.
