We didn't leave Montreal today without grabbing a dozen poppyseed bagels, fresh out of the stone oven, and a container of the best cream cheese I've had....Liberty.

that reminds me of the time a bunch of us stayed at Blane's for a nero/slip weekend, late late that sat. night GM and I think the Punk showed up at blane's with 2 dozen bagels (there were maybe 5 of us still awake)- man they were delish

Discovered these too last time I was in Montreal with Christine. I think Schwarz's > St. Viateur > Highway 10 will be our new "leaving Montreal" ritual.

Fairmount Bagels are owned by the same people and serve the same bagels. However a Montreal local would be best to confirm or deny that, I heard it from a friend while very drunk.

False. St. Viateur is owned by Joe Bagel (that's how everyone calls him). THey have 2 shops on St. Viateur, the main one with all the trimmings and another one near the corner of St. Urbain that's more of a "factory" to produce for restos and whatnot.

Fairmount is owned by other people and their bagels taste different. We've had taste-offs. I'm partial to the st. v bagels myself, though both do handily in a pinch.

looks like we walked right by your house on saturday. ...and drove by it on sunday.

Sharon and I got the borscht and each an order of perogies. WAY TOO MANY! So that night at home, we had perogie leftovers.

Cafe Olympico's Latte is the only Latte I've ever liked. They must use whole milk or something really creamy in it. Their espresso is all class.
