djmelbatoast
Well the Jays beat the Tigers today in extra innings. Halliday looked pretty good and Janssens was great in relief. They even were stealing bases on Rodriguez today. If they can get decent pitching this year they could get back in the playoffs. SmoothedShredder
It's going to be like a truck ran over the rest of the league this year.... except the Yankees... it'll be close. Go Wild Card though!Go Blue Jays Go

The Chameleon
So torn. I love the Jays but the Tigers have always been my favorite team.I was heartbroken by their sloppy play in the World series last year.

djmelbatoast
DETROIT (AP) -- The Toronto Blue Jays-Detroit Tigers game scheduled for Thursday afternoon was postponed because of cold weather. The game will be made up on Sept. 10 at 7:05 p.m.What the hell? I've never heard of that before.
Jaimoe
It's not as if those September games are important.

djmelbatoast
You've never heard of games being postponed due to weather?I've never heard of games being postponed because it was chilly. Apparently there were light flurries earlier in the day and it was windy. Big whoop. They played yesterday in the same conditions and it was a great game. This just makes baseball look soft. Booche
This just makes baseball look soft. And it isnt??? David Fucking Wells. That is all I have to say.
djmelbatoast
And it isnt??? How can I argue it isn't when they call games for no good reason like this. Rain delays I can understand, but not this. Mostly though I'm just pissed because it spoiled my plans for the morning.

Jaimoe
Chacin and a frigid away game vs Detroit. I think I'm glad the game was postponed.
Booche
Spoken by the guy who is only talking baseball and hockey, meanwhile the NHL Eastern Conference is going through a run to the playoffs as we have never seen!
djmelbatoast
Gibbons is an idiot. After scoring 9 runs the game before he starts 3 bench players with our #5 guy against the Royals ace, a week into the season! Losses against a pathetic team like the Royals are going to be huge in September.
Jaimoe
In fairness to Towers, he only gave up 3 earned runs. The team coughed-up 4 errors and were generally lackluster all-round. Players get days off all the time.
Hal Johnson
I think your both right. I kept waiting for the Jays to tee-up off this guy, but they just stood there with their bats on their shoulders. He must have been mixing it up pretty good, cuz they were behind his fastball all night too, when they did swing.Nice signature Jaimoe.
djmelbatoast
Jaimoe, I know that they get days off all the time. It just seems strange that you would voluntarily make a 1/3 of your line-up shite voluntarily. He could just have easily given each of those guys a day of over 3 days. Also, I wasn't trying to say that Towers was horrible, but he could probably benefit from having the everyday lineup behind him more than Halliday or Burnnet.
