Alli's Journey is a new charitable organization formed in tribute to Alli

Shapiro-Amar, a young cancer patient who succumbed to Lymphoma in July 2006

at the age of 26. Alli's Journey supports education, research and support

for young adults with cancer, a large segment of the population that is

rarely recognized. This concert honours Dr. Armand Keating and the new Cell

Therapy program at Princess Margaret Hospital.

The Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) Cell Therapy Program, recently

established under the leadership of Dr. Armand Keating, aims to treat

cancers and other medical conditions by using specific cells from patients

or donors rather than with drugs. Dr. Keating is an internationally

recognized expert in stem cell transplantation and cell therapy. He

established the largest stem cell transplantation program in Canada, was a

senior scientist of the National Cancer Institute of Canada and holds

leadership positions in professional organizations in stem cell

transplantation and hematology as well as with the cell therapy program of

the U.S. National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute. He is Director of

Hematology, Professor of Medicine at the University of Toronto and holds the

Gloria and Seymour Epstein Chair in Cell Therapy and Transplantation. For

the past ten year, he was also Head of Medical Oncology and Hematology at

PMH.

Take My Hand will be held at the Toronto Centre for the Arts, Main Stage,

5040 Yonge Street. Tickets range from $50 - $150 and can be purchased

It was an amazing event. There were 100 bright-eyed and sweet-voiced kids up on stage singing at one point and at another, I saw Deeps sharing the lyric sheet for "Wish Upon a Star" with a famous opera singer... you should have seen this guy's pompadour!!! Beautiful.

Congratulations to Shain and family for continuing to do such great work... Ali's Journey has over tripled their charity sponsorship since last year!!!
