badams
Silver in Diving.A Canadian qualified for the 800M Mens Final. Our 4X100M Mens relay team also qualified for the final. Both the USA's Men's and Women's 4X100M relay teams dropped the baton... literally.

rubberdinghy
It would be alot easier if they allowed athletes to use performance enhancers.

Jaimoe
I just read in the Star that Michael Johnson assured everyone before the race that his 200 metre record was safe. I fucking love Bolt even more.

rubberdinghy
Apparently IOC chief Jacques Rogge isn't happy with Bolts celebration.http://www.ottawasun.com/Sports/Beijing2008/2008/08/21/6525286.html
Jaimoe
I saw Bolt shaking hands with his competetors after each heat. Rogge is a joke and he should be directing his focus on the Chinese "women's" gymnastics team... and if they can cheat, allegedly, in gymnastics, then all China's medals are suspect. Hal Johnson
Of all the people Rogge wants to talk shit about he picks Bolt? Simmons is right, he should be bowing to Bolt. Rogge is stupid.

badams
Equestrian Eric Lamaze of Schomberg, Ont., won the gold medal in the Olympic individual show jumping competition Thursday.Lamaze defeated Sweden's Rolf-Goran Bengtsson in a jump-off to win Canada's third gold medal of the Beijing Games. It was also Canada's first-ever individual equestrian gold medal and just the second individual show jumping medal in Olympic history. ollie
That's awesome! I saw a profile on Lamaze yesterday and he's battled back from suspensions for drug abuse. Very good for him to make history like that.

Kanada Kev
Apparently IOC chief Jacques Rogge isn't happy with Bolts celebration.Fuck you Rogge. Seriously. Kanada Kev
This is sickening:http://olympics.thestar.com/2008/article/482617 UGH. I watched that match and was totally baffled. I admit, i don't know much about the "sport" but as it was explained, Canada was obviously being ripped off. Like one of the replies on the Star's site said, why is it that the majority of China's golds are in JUDGED "sports"? I'm not saying ALL of them are undeserving, but there are some really odd outcomes (the Canadian trampolinist getting the silver is another). AD
further to that, if it's judged, is it really a sport?
Kanada Kev
Remember, humans aren't the only athletes at the games. Horses are another and they are tested for doping too. Looks like a few have been caught and could cost Norway a medal: http://olympics.thestar.com/2008/article/482831 Fuck, how to you inject yourself when you've got hooves for hands? Why the fuck don't the HORSES get a medal when they win either???
AD
Lamaze's horse was bred in the Netherlands. Perhaps the Dutch should get the medal.
Kanada Kev
further to that, if it's judged, is it really a sport?Tough call. One could easily argue that football, soccer, baseball, hockey, etc. are all "judged" by umpires/referees.We've had a lot of debates here at work about this. The definition of "sport" is unbelievably vague. By making the definition much more focused would automatically eliminate countless events from the Games (not saying that would be a bad thing mind you )

AD
Citius, Altius, Fortius - no room for judging. I guess there is subjectiveness in everything though.
badams
16 medals at this point. We also have a silver guaranteed in Taekwondo. So I guess that makes
