Here's how my riding went:

Judy Marsales, Liberal Party, 13892 votes (39.63%)

Roy Adams, New Democratic Party, 12230 votes (34.89%)

Doug Brown, Progressive Conservative, 7356 votes (20.99%)

Lynne Scime, Family Coalition, 672 votes (1.92%)

Jo Pavlov, Green Party of Ont., 634 votes (1.81%)

Jamila Ghaddar, Independent, 268 votes (0.76%)

The Green Party only had 495 votes in the 1999 election.

Nice to see that Janet Ecker and Tony Clement were given the boot, though!! I hate those two smug fuckers. [Mad]

As for the NDP, it was interesting (and cool) that they rose in the popular vote - too bad that it didn't translate into more seats. I would've really liked them to form the opposition... [Frown]

I actually looked into that comment I made on the Greens and in our riding at least the Greens have made a few thousand more of the voter turn out- which I think translated to 7% for them- but last election they only had 1.2% of the vote or something like that.

so they made some popular vote gains as well but it didn't translate to any seats - so the Greens and the NDP will have to be creative to be involved in the Provincial parliment in Ontario.

I guess Howard Hampton has said he will be speaking out and advocating a switch to an electoral system based more on popular vote representation.

Go Governor Groper!

(seriously, I am wasted)

My riding is Dalton's riding, thanks [Roll Eyes] or is it his riding is my riding?

Not that I am complaining, but I always hope for some NDP action, even if I am forced to vote Liberal [Wink]

Alan Rock would be proud.............."Hell, you havent seen her in 10 years. What's 2 days?"

Get our your cheque books everybody, McGinty's a classic tax & spend liberal who thinks all of societies problems can be solved by throwing $$$ at them ... but the lesser of two evils I suppose ... we could have that pinko, socialist Hampton as the Premier ... I'd for sure be thrown in the clink after I was forced to assassinate that fool!!!

allz i can say is when the PC's were in power, all the welfare recipients (which i have TONS that buy weed off me) all hated them, because the PC's were 'trying' to force them to get jobs through different measures....

some lazy people had to be threatened with different ivasive measures....

because of this, i always respected the PC's....

the welfare bums that i sold to yesterday said they were so happy to change back to liberal....

even though welfare is mostly a federal thing (i think) these people were very concerned with the outcome of the provincial election...

they are happy now...

oh well, at least my sales go up.

Seriously though, those welfare bums should just get a job. They live the highlife on $400/month for doing nothing. They should just not be so lazy. There are plenty of jobs out there for $6.85/hour. I mean, with a 40 hour week thats about $1000/month after taxes. Who couldn't live a good life on that?

Yeah, life is easy for the uneducated that never had anyone to take care of them and give them a good start.

ps. I'm being very sarcastic, and I spent 2 years of my life on welfare and never would have made it to where I am now (law school) without it. $400/month isn't jack shit.

Ohhhh... [wringing hands with glee] this could get heated!

Well MoMack, I know you a little, and I know the type of person you are, and I have this to say. There are definitely two types of welfare receipients: Those that truly need society's helping hand for a little while and will spring from it and rise above it, and those that see it as a free ride indefinitely. I'm not saying that it's a pretty ride: $400 is certainly not much money to live on. But, it's a free ride and I've seen many a welfare receipient collecting with no intention of ever moving on. I do believe that people are dealt different hands in life. Some are born rich, some are born poor, some are born smart, some are "stupider than ol' jesus." However, I also believe that as members of this human species, we all have the inherent ability to rise above our situations and become functioning, contributing members of this society.

I understand what secondtube is talking about. I think everyone does. Somehow, we need to be able to help people or motivate people to rise above their situations. Therein lies the challenge. Of couse, everyone knows that this is the problem and everyone knows that there is no easy answer and everyone knows that people get heated when they debate this topic, and that's what makes it so fun!

Love and peace!

I was happy to see Harris kick all those dope shitheads off welfare too...good call....nothing worse than lazy pieces of shit who think the world owes them a living....get the f*ck off the planet if you can't contribute or support yourself..I'm very Darwinian about this....

The thing that really kills me is this so called

"disability allowance" ..I personally know 2-3 dogf*cks on it, amazing that they can do everything they want in life but work...healthy normal males (weed weed weed gamble gamble gamble

-get my drift?)around 30yrs old with absolutely no hurry to do anything about anything...face it, a lot of human beings are shameless crap...you hand anybody $$$$$$$$ and they're sure as hell not going to do much.....them they go see these lame councillers and put on an academy award performance to ensure they'll continue their low-life existence.....where's my Uzi ?????

Right now I work two jobs 7 days a week to support my family and keep my music happening..I never complain and it's not even about pride or any of that crap - it's just sad to see people so unmotivated in this spoiled society when they don't know how lucky they are...grrrrrrrr

"I don't know what is marijuana. Perhaps I will try it when it will no longer be criminal. I will have my money for my fine and a joint in the other hand,"

-Prime Minister Chretien said in an interview with the Winnipeg Free Press on Friday.

As long as you have a welfare system in place, it's bound to be abused just like anything else. I certainly wouldn't want it to be scrapped or threatened, that's for sure. It's a kind of fact of the system that you have to absorb the cost of those who abuse the system in order to let it be accesible to those who really need it. It can never be administered perfectly.

The PC's were mean-spirited in their approach to welfare reform and they certainly did not earn my respect.
