Our Brantford branch just closed for the day as well. I guess it's not getting any better down South.

London just closed it's doors as well. In the 5 years that I have been here we have never had 3 branches close in 1 day. I imagine Waterloo will be next.

Las Vegas gets heaviest snow fall in 30 years

The desert city of Las Vegas, celebrated for its balmy air and 24-hour casinos, has given gamblers a surprise with the heaviest snowfall in almost 30 years.

The rare winter storm brought the Nevada city to a halt, forcing cancellations to flights and closing major highways.

But as several inches of snow carpeted the normally warm ground and lay heavy on the broad fronds of palm trees, tourists rushed outside to record the event with souvenir photographs.

With temperatures far below their normal level, the city's new most popular attraction appeared to be posing beneath the "Welcome to fabulous Las Vegas" sign blanketed in snow.

For the children of the city's residents, who normally play second fiddle to the hordes of fun-seeking visitors, the weather brought an unexpected bonus: a day off school.

While snow is relatively common on the arid hills that surround the sun-baked city, it is rare for flakes to settle on the famous Las Vegas strip.

According to American weather officials, the city normally gets about 1/2 an inch of snow a year. In this storm, seven times that amount was dumped on the city's broad, palm-lined boulevards.

"This amount made it a significant storm," said Jerome Jacques, a meteorologist. "We haven't had this amount of snow since 1979."
