Freak By Night
Here something my dad asked me several years ago:"David, is this printer compatible with my monitor?"I still laugh about that one!
backbacon
IT guy from work crossing the CAN/ US border... (Computer keyboard on board.) border guy: how big is the hard drive? IT guy: There isn't one, it's a keyboard. bg: Just tell me how big the hard drive is. IT: Sir, it's just a keyboard, it doesn't have a hard drive. bg: I'm not going to ask you again... how big is the hard drive? IT: 10 gigs. bg: Okay, go ahead. ? bouche
Headymamamyrna once told me something like "The little man tells me that I have to restart the computer".I think there was something to do with MSN Messenger icon animating and notifying something. Guest Low Roller
While we're on the topic of being IT support for parents, can anyone recommend any good remote access software? When I move out of town my parents will be left defenseless against technology and will continue to need my help from afar. I want to simply log into their computers and fix whatever ails them, bypassing the annoying step-by-step support phone conversations.

bouche
gotomypc.com is probably the best, but it's pricey! Doesn't the built in windows remote shit work?
StoneMtn
My favourite is the old, proverbial (perhaps legendary) call into IT, walking the user through some steps:"... okay, so you see that? Now, press any key.""One second.""You still there?""Ya. One second.""You still there?""Uh, I can't find the 'any' key."
