Don Wilkie, co-owner of Chesnutt’s label, Constellation Records, said Thursday afternoon, “Vic is in the middle of a serious medical condition. He is in a coma, but we have no statement about the specifics of the situation. His family and friends are with him. His doctors are continuing to assess his condition.â€Aloha,Brad Edited December 25, 2009 by Guest Initial reports said he was dead; it's now reported he's still alive, though in a coma. skelter
I don't think the death is confirmed. The link you posted still says coma, along with most of the other news stories I found ... many folks on Twitter are saying 'not dead yet' also. Big Wooly Mammoth
either way, very sad. he was clearly in pretty bad shape when I saw him a few months ago. don't know how he managed to play the guitar. his conditions had been deteriorating. i recall an episode about 15 years ago when he disappeared for several days, mid tour I believe. beams to him>>>>> >>>>>

bradm
When I came across the article (linked from Fark, in their music category), it said he had died, but the article has since been revised to say he's (still) in a coma; I've updated my original post to include the revision from the article.Aloha,Brad
