Mr. Musicface
There was a great piece on History TV last week about Caesar's murder. It asked a lot of questions about why he ignored the supposed warnings, including a note he was handed that actually told him not to go to the Senate because there were men there who wanted to do him harm. The theory basically goes that Caesar was suffering horribly from his epilepsy (which was well documented) and perhaps assoicated mental and physical conditions, and actually wanted to die but wanted to do it in a dramatic way that would be remembered. He certainly accomplished that, and furthermore got to pick his sucessor (Caesar Augustus) and ensure that for centuries to come, all Roman emperors would take the name "Caesar" in his honour. Pretty nice bit of work really! Peace, Mr. M.
