Guest Low Roller

My first impression is that the line-up seems to be missing some heavyweight names to headline the festival. But there are definitely some interesting bands on the list to make this a worthwhile event. I posted an article on the blog portion of this site, so head over there to read my thoughts and drive up the traffic in that section so that Bouche can pay the bills.

I think there's at least one big headliner to be announced. The lineup is too light. Might as well scale the festival down a bit otherwise. Still hoping for Foo Fighters - not a huge fan but would go see them for sure. Big rock show on a summer night, why not. Also heard Monahan on the radio this morning talking about how the exchange rate really affected things this year and with all the new festivals the going rate for artists is going up very fast. Kinda makes one wonder (rhetorically) why 11 days of programming is needed (to get as much $$ from customers as possible)

I wouldn't be surprised to see him pack it in over the next couple of years. He has climbed to the peak and has nothing left to accomplish. That coupled with the total overabundance of festivals must make this very frustrating for him. I do think however that his statement about the exchange rate is a bit boo hoo, he has been running a festival for nearly 2 decades (ok I will give him the benefit of the doubt that it has been less than a decade of superstar programming) during which currency exchange has been predictably unpredictable.

If the Stones play in Ottawa, it would probably be at TD Place, no? And with outrageous prices like the AC/DC show that I'm not going to because tickets are too expensive and since I want only to be in good seats for that show, I got discouraged by that policy many shows now have...this one is first 15 rows, get in with credit card and ID only...can't sell tickets if you end up not being able to go.

The initial lineup is usually light on 'must-see' acts … right?   Though what AD mentions from the interview makes me think this is pretty much it.

There are 120 ish acts listed afterall.

120 hours average /  11 days / 3 stages is about 4 hours / day.  That's horrible math and a pretty shitty estimate I just did but it seems close to filling up the slots.

I feel strange not buying a full pass this year! Been doing that for years and I usually get the early bird price when available. But not this year for the first time in a long time. I think I'll wait to see the final schedule and maybe get a 3-day or 5-day pass if I don't decide to leave town in July instead, which would be something new to do! I like my Bluesfest summer evenings though! Well, just because I don't buy the presale doesn't mean I can't go...I don't like how they don't release all the information right now. Why can't I know now how much the 5-day pass will cost?
