Has anyone ever had a breakfast cake from La Brioche? A lebanese collegue that is in the same french class as me brought in a treat for the entire group this morning from La Brioche. It was basically 2 sheet cakes made with semolina and regular flour and sandwiched between was a mixture of hungarian and lebanese cheeses, melted. The way to eat it was to open up a breakfast roll (a sweetish sesame seed bun), pour some sweet rosewater syrup inside, and stuff it with a 3x3 square of this cake and pour some more of the syrup on the cake. I ate it like a cake sandwich. It was quite remarkable. I've never had anything like it. It may be be called basbousa.
