  1. No that gets a bit harder. You can play it back through a projector and film what's on screen with a vid camera. The best is to take the film to a lab that can essentially scan the film and make it into a digital movie (much more expensive). We've got a bunch of 8mm film reels too ... haven't done anything with them yet.
  2. With what the US is trying to do with Emery, what they did with Arar, what they are doing with Khadr, Canadians should be concerned. It's not always about whether you believe in the person's innocence, but rather what the authorities are going to do with the law. When they start doing things completely illegal and unjust, then they are as bad as the criminals.
  3. However, are you not concerned that Canada is freely handing over a Canadian citizen to US authorities for a totally non-violent crime (and the crime is even debatable) Canada will protect violent criminals that have fled the US and come to Canada based on the fact that they could face too harsh a penalty Stateside (execution). Who should we protect?

  5. ^^^^^ I plowed through that storm in a jetta with 4 people and made it to Richfield. We had just done the 3 night run at the Rosemont Horizon and it was cold. We were holed up with lots of drinks, etc at the Red Roof Inn. Made great friends with our motel neighbours and we all partied hard. One of the guys had a relative who worked for the power company. They were getting phone calls updating us all on the storm and what it was doing. Power outages at the arena all night, etc. We got the news that the show was cancelled and we were bummed. We were thinking that we'd get a show with a half-full venue I still have my unused tickets from that gig. I remember the show the next night was an odd one. VERY smokey inside the coliseum that night
  6. By having a hugely increased military presence in and around the "hot spots" it is believed that it will simply deter any despot from trying to pull a move or rally forces together. We all know this is not an air-tight strategy.
  7. 7 years into his presidency and this is his FIRST visit to Israel? This tour of the Middle East is simply a way to spin that he really "cares" and wants to bring change. Nice way to attempt to salvage some sort of reputation as not being a complete bufoon as his legacy. He's also kissing some major Saudi asses like his father. Where do you think his bread and butter are coming from after he's out of office? Oil! He'll be able to come back and say "Hey, I went to see the A-rabs and talked to Israel. I want peace. Too bad they didn't listen. Now let's go invade Iran/Jordan/Syria." They just need an excuse to keep a massive military presence in the area in order to ensure their "control" over the oil flow.
  8. Right on! Thanks for posting the news. The development in the north end of Oakville was looking unstoppable. Planned development and growth is vital in order to provide necessary services for new populations ... something a lot of places fuck up in the face of big cash from developers.
  9. I'm going to be in the process of doing that with a bunch of tapes that i've got too ... i don't have a camera anymore either. If I borrow one from work, and get a DVD burner, I could probably help you out. I'll be trying this in the next couple of weeks, or sooner. I've got a MIniDVD camera that i've had for just over a year now. Most of the time it's been on the shelf broken. Got it fixed before our Florida trip and it still doesn't work well. I much prefer cameras with cassettes, or the newer hard drive ones. grrrrr.

  11. whoops! I found it surprising after all the praise of her recent tour, etc. Sorry for the wasted bandwidth ... d'oh!
  12. Annie Lennox axed by record label Annie Lennox was reportedly left devastated after she was dropped from her record label and has branded the move a "kick in the teeth". The former Eurythmics star was reportedly stunned when Sony BMG stopped answering her phone calls just weeks before her contract was due to expire. Lennox, 53, said she was shocked at the way she was treated by the company which once hailed her as "one of the finest musical voices of the age". Advertisement Soundgenerator.com quotes her as saying: "They totally ignored me. It was bizarre. It was a kick in the teeth. They didn't return my phone calls or emails for three weeks. I'm trying to find out what's behind it. "Probably a good thing I'm no longer with them - mild understatement. Unless it's them trying to tell me something... Hello!" The singer admitted she has been left contemplating her future in the music industry. She added: "It feels like I'm spent, as if I've completely run out of energy. "I'm going to take my time over the coming months to figure out what to do with this freedom."
  13. I give credit to JFJ for doing that interview. He has still fucked up the team with his decisions, but at least he says he takes accountability. When was the last time that Peddie or Tannenbaum agreed to an interview like that? I didn't think that it was a very good game by either team. While you take a win any way you can get it, in no way did it make me any more confident about the Leafs. Gotta love the way they allowed it to end up a one goal game too Kaberle's goal was pretty sweet, but the rest were pretty ugly. Leafs D looked like shit as usual.
  14. Yup, Skydome ... but for 2 nights. Had my mailorder ticket orders returned The mail order day for those shows was August 8th i think. I was at a Widespread Panic show in Rochester a year later (with Big Wooly Mammoth) and we ended up backstage. Talking to the band, we found out that they were lined up to open both those Dead shows at Skydome as well!!! That would have been sweet (sweat ).
  15. Hey kc, i had a few buddies totally trying to turn me on to Phish at that time too. In fact from the Fall Tour the previous year as well. I turned down heading to Buffalo for the Phish gig at the roller skating rink in '91 ... accounts of that one sound pretty damns funny. The Dead shows in Hamilton (90 and 92) were a blast. The scene was so completely relaxed. So many friends and the entire Ontario deadhead population out in full force. In '92 we got some snow flurries before one of the gigs IIRC. We had an awesome time setup selling Guatamalan sweaters and stuff on a prime corner on Shakedown. I don't recall any negativity around those shows. Maybe in '92 after the second show there seemed to be a LOT of trash lying around, but that's all I can think of. Fun shows, great music (esp 90) and wicked scene. I've got some pics somewhere around here. Anyone got a scanner?

  18. TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS REVISED 2008 SCHEDULE January 15 vs. Bloomington Jr. High School Girls 22 vs. Cub Scout Troop #101 29 vs. CNIB Senior Team February 5 vs. Spanish-American War Vets 12 vs. Crippled Children's Hospital 19 vs. St. Cloud Home for Wayward Girls 26 vs. Girl Scout Troop #69 March 5 vs. Ontario VD Clinic Post #3 12 vs. Church Street Boy's Choir 19 vs. Korean War Amputees 26 vs. VA Hospital Polio Patients Special Monday Night Game: March 3 vs. Utopia Gay Boys Name Change: The Toronto Maple Leafs will be changed to the Toronto Tampons' as they are only good for one period, and they don't have a second string. Coaching Change: Paul Maurice will be replaced by Pamela Anderson. No doubt she will blow a few, but she won't choke on the big one. Rule Changes: 1. When playing the Girl Scouts, the Leafs must not eat their cookies. 2. The Leafs will be allowed to substitute with band members at any time during the game. 3. When playing the Polio Patients, the Leafs must not disconnect any of the leg braces. 4. There will be no more dancing with opposing teams, like the last time they played the Utopia Gay Boys. 5. The Leafs MUST PROMISE to remember that when the referee drops the puck, this signals the beginning of play. This is to ensure that no more time will be wasted while the Leafs try to figure out what just happened. 6. The Leafs must also stop tangling the crippled children in the net mesh. New fan cheer: 'GOLF LEAFS GOLF' And while on the topic of the Leafs.... What does Toronto have that Montreal doesn't? Black and white photographs of their last Stanley Cup. What do the Leafs and The Titanic have in common? They both look good until they hit the ice. Why don't the Maple Leafs drink tea? Because the Canadiens have all the cups. What's the difference between the Leafs and a cigarette machine? The cigarette machine has PLAYERS.
  19. smoke and mirrors man! just watch, they're gonna pull it out of their asses and win the Cup! Parade planning party anyone?
  20. JFJ's probably waiting to be let go by MLSE. Wait for the financial package and payout. By quitting and walking away, he may forfeit the chance at a few extra bucks. Peddie and Tannenbaum childishly play the other owners off one another. They need to have ownership that's not so tied up in political bullshit. Their tactics surrounding the Leaf GM and Coaching position is pathetic. Piss or get off the pot already.
  21. Just got an email that Jason Blake is here at the CBC being interviewed by Stomboulopoulos for The Hour. Was going to go, but i've got other shit to do, and I might say something untoward in the studio I was thinking about yelling out "Downey" and seeing if he flinched
  22. What I was getting at is the fact that the possibility of losing money to these people is what lights a fire under their asses!
