  1. http://bit.ly/hV2IZo Norah Jones – Featuring In the wake of her 2002 blockbuster debut, Norah Jones became an in-demand duet partner, popping up on albums from all manners of musicians. The 2010 compilation, …Featuring, helpfully rounds up 18 of these guest appearances, including a cut by the Jones-fronted country cabaret outfit the Little Willies, and what impresses is the range of collaborators and the consistency of the music. Anybody who called Norah up for a duet was clearly smitten by her way with slow-burning seduction, as they almost without fail cast her in that role for their own recordings, smoothing out rough edges or adding some sultry sophistication. This would seem like a limited specialty, but Featuring proves it’s not. Jones sounds as comfortable trading verses with Willie Nelson and Ray Charles as she does acting as a counterpoint to Q-Tip and Outkast, providing alternating contrasts according to the setting; she freshens the veterans and provides a touch of timeless elegance to her modern rock peers. It may all be variations on a theme, but the sounds and songs change just enough for the music to be quietly absorbing. Better still, when these side shows are grouped together as a main attraction, they manage to sound of a piece. These may be songs that appeared on other artist’s albums, but when presented as a collection, they seem to belong only to Norah Jones. - by Stephen Thomas Erlewine MP3@320CBR Track List 1 – Love Me (The Little Willies) 2 – Virginia Moon (Foo Fighters) 3 – Turn Them (Sean Bones) 4 – Baby It’s Cold Outside (Willie Nelson) 5 – Bull Rider (Sasha Dobson) 6 – Ruler of My Heart (Dirty Dozen Brass Band) 7 – The Best Part (El Madmo) 8 – Take Off Your Cool (OutKast) 9 – Life Is Better (Q-Tip) 10 – Soon the New Day (Talib Kweli) 11 – Little Lou, Prophet Jack, Ugly John (Belle & Sebastian) 12 – Here We Go Again (Ray Charles) 13 – Loretta (Gillian Welch & David Rawlings) 14 – Dear John (Ryan Adams) 15 – Creepin’ In (Dolly Parton) 16 – Court & Spark (Herbie Hancock) 17 – More Than This (Charlie Hunter) 18 – Blue Bayou (M. 2. Joey the Junior Reporter Check out Joey the BHTV Junior Reporter!
  3. Yup. It's a real eye-opener. You can really get an understanding of how must the troops in these regions are "sitting ducks" and easily ambushed. Scary shit.
  4. Watched this last night and was really impressed. A great documentary following the efforts of a group of US soldiers on their tour in the most dangerous region in Afghanistan. I really liked the fact that it didn't really go into the political side of the war, but rather just on the humans that are the soldiers on the ground doing the grunt work. Holding an outpost and being surrounded by enemy fire 24/7. The mental, emotional and social impact. Questions about what it will be like to readjust (if at all possible) to life back home after experiencing what they did. The footage is all first-hand documentation. No re-enactments or anything. Raw. Emotional. http://restrepothemovie.com/ http://hotfile.com/dl/85763998/7a88edc/restrepo.2010.limited.docu.dvdrip.xvid-nodlabs.cd1.avi.html http://hotfile.com/dl/85765575/08a74ed/restrepo.2010.limited.docu.dvdrip.xvid-nodlabs.cd2.avi.html or http://rapidshare.com/files/433780882/Restrepo.2010.LiMiTED.DOCU.DVDRip.XviD-NODLABS.part1.rar http://rapidshare.com/files/433780879/Restrepo.2010.LiMiTED.DOCU.DVDRip.XviD-NODLABS.part2.rar http://rapidshare.com/files/433780880/Restrepo.2010.LiMiTED.DOCU.DVDRip.XviD-NODLABS.part3.rar http://rapidshare.com/files/433780881/Restrepo.2010.LiMiTED.DOCU.DVDRip.XviD-NODLABS.part4.rar OR http://hotfile.com/dl/85665941/dc563d4/Restrepo.2010.LiMiTED.DOCU.DVDRip.XviD-NODLABS.part1.rar.html http://hotfile.com/dl/85665987/4efb579/Restrepo.2010.LiMiTED.DOCU.DVDRip.XviD-NODLABS.part2.rar.html http://hotfile.com/dl/85665994/c573988/Restrepo.2010.LiMiTED.DOCU.DVDRip.XviD-NODLABS.part3.rar.html http://hotfile.com/dl/85665504/55b4753/Restrepo.2010.LiMiTED.DOCU.DVDRip.XviD-NODLABS.part4.rar.html or http://rapidshare.com/files/433687134/restrepo.2010.limited.docu.dvdrip.xvid-nodlabs.cd1.part1.rar http://rapidshare.com/files/433687080/restrepo.2010.limited.docu.dvdrip.xvid-nodlabs.cd1.part2.rar http://rapidshare.com/files/433687072/restrepo.2010.limited.docu.dvdrip.xvid-nodlabs.cd2.part1.rar http://rapidshare.com/files/433687066/restrepo.2010.limited.docu.dvdrip.xvid-nodlabs.cd2.part2.rar
  5. They must be. After you posted that i read their "Proclaim" on their main page. Can't help but read it with a Chinese accent:
  6. Saw this site posted elsewhere. Looks unbelievable. $33 for NHL embroidered hockey sweaters??? All other sports there too: http://www.underjerseys.com/
  7. Fuck yeah! I'll be there for sure. Thanks for the heads-up.
  8. no kidding ... like one rational comment I heard made this morning said (in purple font): [color:purple]Yeah, like he's done NOTHING for the Amercian farmer ...
  9. And you know how much $$$ i spend on my music habit how? Is that supposed to be an attempt at a guilt-trip or something? Music is not just about physical albums. Sure, in this technological age there is plenty of sharing of music. Without it there is so much i never would have heard, and in turn, would never have gone to experience the artists perform for me in a live venue. If there was more focus by the record industry on signing, promoting and growing the live music scenes around the world then great. Are they doing that? No. They hate the "try before you buy" method of consumerism. It used to be tour to support the album. Now it should be get your music out there to support the tour! How many times to I have to pay for Dark Side Of The Moon (LP x2, cassette, multiple CD reissues, box sets, 5.1, etc)? Everything is "out there" now. Too late to close the gate now that the cows have left. What can the majors do to salvage their industry? As I predicted a number of years ago the industry has to go to a subscription-based format. At a 'reasonable' cost, which makes any sort of hassle/effort P2P'ing recordings a waste of time, you would get instant access to ALL of the major label's content. So, for $10/mo. all of Sony BMG is yours to listen to in your house/car/phone/computer/etc.
  10. [color:purple]We better put a levy on ALL transportation vehicles too since they may be moving stolen or illegal material. Ass-backwards. The record co.s continue to hang on to out-dated business models. Bands have the ability now more than ever to steer their own course and maintain control over their destiny. This is is just another good way to fuck over the consumer. Don't buy new MP3 players, but on the second-hand market where there will be no levy.
  11. Marking this on the calendar now. While not the best venue, it will be great to finally see these guys live. Just watched a few vids on Youtube. Never saw this one for such a good song: Nancy Botwin & The Jayhawks
  12. http://bit.ly/fPEGnN Jeff Beck – Live and Exclusive from the Grammy Museum Legendary guitarist Jeff Beck hit the ground running in 2010, kicking the year off by winning his fifth Grammy Award. Just weeks later, the multi-platinum-selling artist scored the highest Billboard debut of his 45-year career with the release of Emotion & Commotion. Riding high on that red-hot streak, Beck performed an exclusive show at the Grammy Museum on April 22, thrilling an intimate crowd of 200 with his mind-bending guitar heroics. Jeff Beck is one of rock music’s most skilled guitarists. While his fellow guitarists in the Yardbirds went on to greater fame and fortune (Eric Clapton is the blues-guitar god and Jimmy Page, of course, was the Led Zeppelin master) Beck was the man who could never keep a great band together and who has walked away from the music business when it doesn’t serve his purposes. That said, he is a genius, and this intimate performance at the Grammy Museum is one of breath-taking intensity. His version of the Beatles’ “A Day In the Life†is a stunner. “Corpus Christi Carol†is beautifully lush on the outside, but Beck’s incredible phrasing makes all the difference. “Over the Rainbow†climaxes with tones that only Beck can carry. In many ways, he is the Chet Baker of guitar. His intense moodiness enhances everything he plays and turns every tune into a gripping last stand. “People Get Ready†holds onto the hope that Curtis Mayfield intended. Each tune here is available in both audio and video form. Track List 1. Corpus Christi Carol (Live) (3:17) 2. Hammerhead (Live) (4:30) 3. Over The Rainbow (Live) (3:10) 4. Brush With The Blues (Live) (6:05) 5. A Day In The Life (Live) (4:57) 6. Nessun Dorma (Live) (3:14) 7. How High The Moon (Live) (2:05) 8. People Get Ready (Live) (4:48) http://bit.ly/fPEGnN
  13. It's my life And it's now or never I ain't gonna live forever I just wanna live while I'm alive (It's my life) My heart is like an open highway Like Frankie said, "I did it my way" I just wanna live while I'm alive 'Cause it's my life
  14. Been listening to tunes today and it's amazing how when something like this is in the front of your thoughts that so many songs seem to resonate. Started out this morning on the drive to work. Was talking to Darlene about the situation and memories of Julia and how she was so generous to me and my family. Then on the radio they start blasting The Cult! Well, Julia insisted that I attend The Cult show last year at Massey hall with her when they performed "Love" in its entirety. The Cult was one of my first concerts back at Massey Hall in 1985 when they were touring that album. One of Julia's first shows was with The Cult opening up for Metallica. Damn we had a fun time that night reliving a little of the 80s Just finished listening to Jeff Beck's new live release. No words, but holy shit does his guitar speak with so much more emotion that any voice. Could barely see my computer screens after listening to these: Jeff Beck - Over The Rainbow by jackstanleywp Jeff Beck - Nessun Dorma by jackstanleywp Jeff Beck - People Get Ready by jackstanleywp Considering we are all lovers of music maybe there are some special songs that make you think of Julia, or simply a reminder of some of the qualities that made her so special. Please share. Could make for a really interesting mix.
  15. Brian, You know there are no words that can be said to express the feelings that are out there for you in this hard and difficult time. Julia is going to be missed by many as she touched so many lives. More importantly she will be REMEMBERED and CELEBRATED. Please let me know if there's any help that I can provide. Brian you truly amaze me. Being able to be with you and some other close friends last night was needed. Your stories and memories were wonderful and moving. I never expected so much laughter. Trust me, you were the one providing the support to all of us. Talk to you soon Brian ... and don't lose that pen!
