No, it wasn't supposed to be in purple. Voting isn't considered something women should be doing in the first place in many Muslim sects, and the notion of rights and responsibilities outside of the home (other than maybe the mosque) is probably pretty alien to her. It's not terribly surprising that she doesn't know about her right to vote. Obviously, not all Muslim groups are so rigid, but since she clearly belongs to one that requires her to wear a niqab I'm guessing that her group isn't one of the more liberal ones.

I think her lack of awareness of her rights and responsibilites is directly related to her religion.

Assuming the cops aren't lying or making up false reports, anyway. Who the hell says, "Come on in!" to the cops when they've got a pile of drugs out in plain view? I mean, I know some people are pretty stupid, but that would be *really* stupid.

That's the story that I heard at the time. And we had great reserved seats for that show taboot. Yeah, I had great reserved seats too: second row, centre stage! I only found out about the venue switch the day before the show when I went to ticketmaster to ask where this Harbourfront venue was and how to get there. Probably the hottest show I have ever been at in my life. I can also remember the walls sweating. Disgusting. Still... a damn good performance!
