  1. The Fratellis, Costello Music. Fuck yeah!
  2. Talking Heads, The Name Of This Band Is Talking Heads.
  3. I'd like to say that I was drunk and had a brilliant idea - or that I was making a sandwich whilst hovering over a pile of CDs - but the truth is that I went searching on the internet. I think I googled "sticker residue remove how" and one of the pages mentioned it. The thing is, there were about 25 different suggestions, but they all involved products that I either didn't have in my apartment or that wouldn't be easily obtainable here in the Land of the Morning Calm (which is a misnomer if I've ever heard one). Most of them mentioned techniques and gave instructions, but one just said "Mayonnaise" and I thought, well, I have that in the fridge and it certainly can't *hurt* the CD cases, so what the hell... WD-40 was one of the other suggestions.
  4. I always liked Russert. He was level-headed and reasonable, and wasn't afraid to ask some difficult questions of his guests. He was only 58, too - definitely too young to lose. R.I.P.
  5. He did the lyrics for most Dr. Hook & The Medicine Show songs too, including but not limited to "Cover Of The Rolling Stone" and "Sylvia's Mother".
  6. I haven't heard it myself, but every single review that I've read says that his new album is excellent. So it either really is excellent, or else it sucks elephant balls to the nth degree.
  7. So, y'know how sometimes you buy something, and when you peel the price tag off it leaves a sort of gooey residue that just doesn't want to come off? Well, I know there are some commercial products that work incredibly well that you can buy to get that shit off of your belongings, but I have just discovered that mayonnaise works as well - plus, you probably have some in your fridge, so you don't have to make a trip to the store. No shit. This is my public service announcement for the day.
  8. Brad Mehldau Trio and Herbie Hancock are by far the best acts on that bill. Don't miss Mehldau - he's freakin' awesome!!!
  9. Did he?? He didn't tear it apart, but that's not exactly a ringing endorsement, either. Link
  10. Not surprising I suppose, but news nonetheless: Link

For quandry #7, I would have to say Robert Plant & Allison Krauss. Since this is probably a one-off tour, the likelihood of being able to see them again is much lower than the likelihood of seeing Derek Trucks or Broken Social Scene in the future.
  12. Fuck, yes!!! This movie is excellent. Highly recommended, whether you're into German movies or not. I saw this a few months ago, and it was by far one of the best flicks I saw this year. Watch. Now.
