  1. I'd say see you there if it weren't for that Bill Frisell thing at 8pm.
  2. Oddly enough, that's exactly how I find my way around the Bluesfest.
  3. Damn it's good. Somebody really should shoot Franti, though.
  4. Ken Vandermark Five, live at Zaphod's, Feb 10th '07. Thanks for taping it, BradM.
  5. Happy belated B-day, Julia. Keep on rocking.
  6. For a more sinister look at the man check out the French documentary "Idi Amin Dada' from the Criterion Collection. Featuring interviews with the tyrant and a musical score provided by the man himself and his Suicide Jazz Band, it was made while Amin was still in power. Chilling, disturbing cinema. That said, Forest Whitaker did a great job in the Last King.
  7. I was really torn about going to this. I knew the show would be brilliant, but the price was so steep, that after much heart-felt consideration I opted not to pay the big bucks and skip the show. Then at 5:30 show night JoJo called with two free tickets in the lower hundreds stage right, courtesy of his friend Evil. We were close enough to feel the heat from the fire explosions but far enough to have a wicked view. The sound was near perfect, without being unduly loud. The show was fanfuckingtastic. Worth every penny.
  8. Brad, if you go in person to the TM office on Kent St you can purchase any Admission tickets there, but it is cash only.
  9. Killer good times, Wayne. Please fell free to keep me posted on any future shows. Not too many rock bands covering Kurt Weill these days ... The whole show was a tasty treat for my hungry, hungry ears.
  10. Hey Moose, stop hijacking this thread. Advertise your damn country band in your own damn thread.
  11. Hey Carstairs, you should go to this. And I owe you $10 ...
  12. Right on. I'm sure I'll make it out to this one.
  13. Wouldn't the circumference of the pizza matter more than how many slices it's cut into? I get from Ricardo's a lot. A little on the heavy side but damn tasty.
  14. Hey there, a buddy of mine has eight tickets he would like to sell. Game six in Ottawa has trumped Ween, in his case. Anyone intereted?
  15. Gillian Welch: Time(The Revelator)in honour of any Toronto skanks lucky enough to be seeing her tonight. I was in Toronto four hours ago, had I known about the show I would have stayed. Ah well.
  16. Best of luck to you Blane. But you'll be fine, you know that already.
  17. Hey, AD, where did you get this yesterday? It's not out until June.
  18. Guess I'll have to go buy that now. I love this band. I had to walk out on Lyle Lovett at Bluesfest to catch them on the Blacksheep stage, a few years back, and was sooo glad I did.
  19. More righteousness would benefit this conversation (and this "scene") more than more self-righteousness.
  20. Damn you, Bradm, you beat me to it! http://www.magma.ca/~rgwood/sites.html
  21. For the record, once again, Jak's Kitchen is not Stoneface Dolly's. Bob sold the place to the people who own Kinky in the market, I believe. The cooks they have just don't seem that good. Stoneface Dolly's, on the other hand, continues to make great food. Now that Bob's son Jeff is back in town the food at Stoneface has really improved again. Jak's Kitchen may just be going through growing pains, but for now the veggie food, at least, needs improving. Go to Stoneface Dolly's on Preston and you will be glad you did.
  22. What is this monkeydeal? How does one get in on it?
