  1. Ola.

Like many of you I face a drive to work every morning. And like many of you I use this time to listen to music. Upon doing so today, I thought of a QOTD.

If there is one CD in your collection that you were pretty sure that the majority of the world didn't know about and you could recommend to your fellow skanks, what would it be?

Today (and possibly tomorrow) I would recommend:

    Tortoise - TNT - 1995? 96?

A double bass soundscape of sweeping dimension and catchy hooks, this is one of my top 5 instrumental albums of all time.

  2. MMW - nice job on the recording. Just finished the show and it's the best one I've heard them play in that building.

Now who's got my heady Duo second set from Sat.? Was Taper Karl there? Honestly I can't remember.....

  3. Scottie King

Nice, with a few exceptions. Needs to be nice to everyone not just friends. Could try a little harder when things are tough. Good sense of humor. Made list last year. Needs to be good all December.

HA! Santa better not be lookin on Friday Night.

  4. That whole night was really special. It was one of those birthday's that went so seemlessly - Great food (Korean Grill baby) straight to the MMW, thanks to the Punk for the ride to El Macombo, and then SHABANGA, all me favorite Skanky types more than willing to take advantage of the extended last call to make my night a whirlin swirling and in the morning, I daresay, hurling good B-day (first puke since 98).

As for the Duo, even though I'd heard the tapes, nothing beats the pure tangable energy they throw down. I can't wait to get that set to see if I imagined the fact that they started their encore to the beat I was pounding into the stage (some say yes, some say I imagined the whole thing)

    Good to see everyone!

  5. ....I embarked on a five day mix of debauchery and the worst student teaching I ever did. It all started here, at one of my favorite Phish shows ever. Tour opener, would see them in Rochester three nights later on my b-day.

Anybody else here>>>>>12-02-99 The Palace, Auburn Hills, MI

1: Runaway Jim, Farmhouse*, Heavy Things, Roggae, Run Like an Antelope, Wading in the Velvet Sea, Poor Heart, Sample in a Jar, Free, The Squirming Coil (1:18)

2: Boogie On Reggae Woman, Gotta Jiboo, Bathtub Gin** -> Also Sprach Zarathustra, You Enjoy Myself*** -> Little Drummer Boy# (1:19)

    E: Bold as Love (0:06)

*With slightly different vocal arrangement (refrain at end).

**Unfinished; with "Also Sprach Zarathustra" teases. ***With silent jam.

#Basically part of the vocal jam, which ended with Fish alone onstage, standing behind his drums, singing "Little Drummer Boy" (possibly with "vulgar variations" such as "I want to make love to you, ba rum ba rum ba bum bum").

  6. I'm in from the beginning and hooked as sh!t. Last night's ending left me that feeling that the X-Files used to when it was really good. I think it has tremendous potential if they keep it as complex as it.

  7. I want to respected enough to be on Jon Stewart and Charlie Rose in the same week.

As well, an appearance on the West Wing as the newly elected Canadian Prime Minister with his big dream of annexing Vermont.

That and I always wanted to redo Doctor Who with myself in the leading role. A younger, hipper Doctor flying around in my TARDIS.
