  1. I saw Genesis at Live Earth at Wembley Stadium on 7/7/07 and at Twickenham Stadium on 7/8/07 and this tour kills the We Can't Dance tour of 1992. I will be going to see them again in Toronto on 9/7/07 and in Detroit on 9/30/07 and I can't wait to see this show again and again. Tim
  2. No we don't need Pink Floyd to reunite, we just want Pink Floyd to reunite. I love Radiohead, but Pink Floyd they are not.
  3. Happy Birthday NewRider! Tim
  4. Thanks everybody, I haven't been on here too much as of late, as this has been a very busy time in my life. But I want to say I love all of you here on jambands.ca, you are a great community of people and I feel blessed to know you all. I will let everyone know how my trip to the UK and Europe went when I get back in a little over a couple of weeks. I currently have tickets to see Lou Reed perform 'Berlin,' the Concert for Diana, two Genesis gigs and I might hit up Steely Dan, Van Morrison, Joe Cocker, Bert Jansch, R.E.M., the Bright Eyes and possibly even the Rolling Stones? Tim
  5. What a year to decide to go to Europe in July. I'm getting impatient about Bob Dylan announcing his tour a Canadian gig here and a Canadian gig there. I want all the dates to figure out what gig I will be able to attend in June and/or July that do not conflict with June 29-July 15. Tim
  6. I would be at this gig if I did not have to work. Though I am considering on going to St. Catherine's on Saturday night to see the Slippermen. Tim
  7. Hey NewRider, I wish you could go to this as Chris Hillman will be guaranteed to perform material that he recorded with Gram Parsons. Either way I hope you enjoy Son Volt on Thursday. I will not be able to attend the gig as I have an exam that day. Tim
  8. CHRIS HILLMAN & HERB PEDERSON HUGH'S ROOM WED APR 11, 2007 THU APR 12, 2007 DOORS 6PM SHOWTIME 8PM $36 If you love the Byrds, the Flying Burrito Brothers, beautiful harmony vocals and a mix of country, rock, gospel and folk music you will love this show. Many on this board saw Chris Hillman and Herb Pederson perform at the Ottawa Bluesfest back in 2004 and I am sure they will attest to what I just said. Expect to hear a mix of songs from Hillman's brilliant career in the Byrds, the Flying Burrito Bros., the Desert Rose Band (with Pederson) and duo material with Pederson. It was Hillman that helped shape the way for Gram Parsons to be in the Byrds and create the masterpiece 'Sweethearts of the Rodeo.' Johnny Rogan wrote in the liner notes to 'Turn!Turn!Turn!' for the song "Satisfied Mind" that "Chris Hillman chose this former country hit by Porter Wagner...It serves as the earliest example of the Byrds' excursion into country music." The song was recorded in September of 1965, Hillman is a truly an underrated visionary in popular music. I hope to see some of you there tomorrow night. Peace, Tim
  9. Happy Birthday Wassink Wild Card, I'm sorry I am not able to attend your party tonight, know that I wish I could be there. I wish you all the best in the year to come. Peace and Love, TimmyB
  10. I am so happy to see that Wilco has become a draw on this site. Unfortunately I will in all likelihood miss my first Wilco gig in Toronto since 1997, as that night I will be seeing Lou Reed perform his album 'Berlin' at the Hammersmith Apollo in London. Luckily I will see Wilco at bonnaroo this year so at least my yearly streak of seeing Tweedy will remain intact since 2001. Tim
  11. Just a friendly reminder that the Autumn Defense show at the Horseshoe is tonight. I know a couple of you on here are going to go to it, I hope to see some more of you there. Tim

  17. FYI, Canadians do not yet need to have a passport to cross into the United States of America, unless you are crossing via air travel. I believe the passport requirement for Canadians via driving across borders is January 1, 2008. Tim
  18. Sweet. Tim From www.billboard.com Another Side Of Dylan On Display In Film Outtakes February 27, 2007, 12:25 PM ET Wes Orshoski, N.Y. Through catching him trying on loud, skinny ties, playing nice with journalists or waving at fans, a new version of D.A. Pennebaker's famed Bob Dylan documentary "Don't Look Back" paints the singer as a warmer, funnier icon in the making. While packaged with new commentaries from Pennebaker and road manager Bob Neuwirth, as well as a special paperback book and a clever flip-book, the jewels in the new "Bob Dylan: Dont Look Back 1965 Tour Deluxe Edition" are found in the batch of unused footage, such as uncut performances of such classics as "Don't Think Twice" and "It's All Over Now, Baby Blue." Before a special screening of the outtakes last night (Feb. 26) at the Museum of Television and Radio in New York, Pennebaker was interviewed by Neuwirth. He noted that he initially dreaded the idea of doing "Dont Look Back 2," and that he never had any plans to release the onstage or offstage leftovers. "When I made 'Dont Look Back,' I thought I was writing this play, about this character. It wasn't a musical comedy -- it was a real play, a piece of theater, so I cut short all the music, because I figured people who were interested in his music would go out and buy his record and that would take care of that," he said. But when prodded by Walker Lamond, the editor of the new outtakes, he said he saw the value in releasing the full performances. "When I watched them from beginning to end, I thought, 'Holy sh*t.' He would play to audiences of 2,000-3000 people -- a full theater -- and they would be spellbound, deadly silent, listening to every clink and clatter that he made." In Sheffield, Dylan is seen surrounded by charmingly awkward and totally starstruck fans, who, in a loss for words, ask him what time the show starts and when he arrived in town. "I don't know what to say," says one. "Me neither," says Dylan. Before the screening, Patti Smith recalled spending "weeks pay at the factory" to travel to Philadelphia and New York from her home in south New Jersey to see the film, noting that it influenced everything from the way she talks to the way she walks. "For me, 'Don't Look Back' showed an artist who was both deeply generous and caring, had a sense of social responsibility but was also arrogant, free and new," she said. "And I think what I got from watching [the film] was the sense that all of these things were important -- not just to have attitude, but to have something to back it up. After the screening, Pennebaker remembered Dylan nudging him to film him at the piano, thus capturing both a song in progress, and one of the film's most spellbinding moments. In one of the outtakes, Neuwirth, Grossman and Dylan are seen talking about the Beatles' planned visit to Dylan's famed Royal Albert Hall show in London, and where they would go if the crowd got out of control. When asked why he didn't film the Beatles and Dylan together, Pennebaker said he did, dismissing the footage as "very sloppy," before adding: "The Beatles were just the Beatles. I wanted the movie to be about Bob Dylan."
  19. [blurb]It looks like bonnaroo 2007 will sell out quicker than in the previous five years (2005 was the only year that bonnaroo did not sell out). Tim www.billboard.com [/blurb] The Police Adding Zest To Early Bonnaroo Sales February 27, 2007, 11:30 AM ET Ray Waddell, Nashville Bonnaroo tickets are selling very strong out of the gate, up about 20% over last year's pace, according to Jonathan Mayers, president of Superfly Presents, co-producers of Bonnaroo with A.C. Entertainment. Tickets went on sale last Friday after a limited pre-sale with no acts announced went up late last year. The festival is set for June 14-17 on a 700-acre farm in Manchester, Tenn. The 2007 Bonnnaroo lineup, with headliners the Police, Tool, and Widespread Panic among the 100 or so artists, has been well received, Mayers says. "We think the lineup is definitely as strong as it has ever been," Mayers tells Billboard.com. "Each year is different, depending upon one's particular tastes, but I think this year holds up well compared to previous years. We've gotten nothing but great feedback." The Police, on a reunion tour produced by TNA International, have sold out 16 of 16 shows on sale for a total of 415,000 tickets so far, and seem to have added some real juice to the Bonnaroo bill. "The Police are definitely a special artist to have on the Bonnaroo lineup, no doubt about it," says Mayers. "It's going to be one of their more unique plays on this tour, and I think for a lot of the fans it's going to be one of the most economical ways to go see them, considering the [bonnaroo] ticket price and all the other bands on the bill." For the Police, Bonnaroo was a nice fit as the only festival on the route. "[bonnaroo] fell at the right time as we were sketching together what we were going to do," says TNA president Arthur Fogel. "My initial thought was this could be exciting, and everybody was of the same mind. It's an established, cool festival, and it just makes sense." Bonnaroo tickets are tiered at $125 (for the advance tickets with no acts announced), $184.50, $199.50 and $214.50. All tickets for the first three levels are sold out. The price of Bonnaroo tickets did increase this year, but Mayers says, "We continue to invest in and improve upon the event, so we have to take that into account when looking at the ticket price. But we are very conscious of trying to be a 'deal' in the scope of ticket prices, and we will continue to be price-sensitive."
  20. Tool Tour Postponed After Drummer Injury February 22, 2007, 10:30 AM ET Katie Hasty, N.Y. Fans who bought tickets to Tool's upcoming spring tour will have to wait a little longer see the band live. The outing has been postponed indefinitely after drummer Danny Carey tore his bicep, requiring surgery. According to Tool's Web site, the procedure "went well" but Carey will not be recovered in time for the planned start of the tour on March 15 at the Pearl in Las Vegas. Rescheduled dates have yet to be announced. The tour was to keep Tool on the road in North America through the end of April. It is expected the band will be able to honor a previously announced co-headlining appearance at the Bonnaroo Festival in mid-June in Manchester, Tenn. Tool is touring in support of its latest studio album, "10,000 Days," which has sold more than 1.4 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
  21. I remember reading that the author of this work felt flattered of Bob Dylan's "Theft" of his writings. Tim
  22. I might be in the minority here, but I still hope this tour happens. Tim
  23. I was very excited to see Crosby & Nash as a duo for the first time and tickets to see this tour in Cleveland and Niagara Falls. Hopefully David will be better soon and the tour will resume in the fall, but whether that happens or not my thoughts and prayers are with him. Tim
