    Bluesfest...

I'll happily concede the point. I also now recall that it was when Sting headlined that people started complaining that it wasn't a blues festival anymore, so I suppose that indicates it was previously. I sure am glad it's not a blues festival!

    Bluesfest...

Betcha one could highlight acts in the 'plus more' section to argue that it isn't really a blues festival.
  3. Another big surprise: Facebook makes you stoopid: http://www.time.com/time/business/article/0,8599,1891111,00.html
  4. I enjoyed the show a lot, but not as much as the last few shows. No reflection on Neil, more of a comment on the amazing setlist of the last Ottawa show and how great it was to see him at Massey Hall. Neil consistenty brings it, the guy is never just going through the motions, and it's all but impossible to find someone with a catalogue like his playing like that.
  5. Allen Carr discusses this commonality in the book. He argues that the warning signs on cigarette packs actually make people smoke more. I know whenever I saw a heavy anti-smoking message I always lit one. The idea is that smokers smoke when they feel stress, and any reminder that you're killing yourself with cigarettes causes stress. Strange, but pretty much undeniable. There is so much about smoking that goes against logic. It's an insidious drug. Good luck getting off of it everyone.

    Bluesfest...

Ahhh, Kevo... The first headliner of the first Ottawa Bluesfest was Clarence Clemons. Now I ask you, when was this ever a real blues festival? The lineup gets announced next week, on Wednesday, April 22nd. Save the booing for then, and I suspect you shant boo too long. The reason the rumours here haven't really excited you is because almost nothing in this thread is a rumour - they are almost all listed somewhere as playing at the Bluesfest. The major acts know to not list unannounced shows on their websites. Wanna get excited? Here's some acts I've heard rumoured to play Bluesfest: Paul McCartney, AC/DC, Beastie Boys, Paul Simon, Joe Cocker, Iggy Pop, B-52s... But it's kinda silly to get excited about rumours ain't it?
  7. Basher, you should still read it. A lot of people who quit persist in desiring cigarettes. The book helps you not desire them anymore. Allen Carr shows you that you're not actually giving up anything.

    Bluesfest...

I had heard a Joe Cocker rumour.
  9. It astounds me the lengths people will go to to avoid reading that book. I too highly, highly recommend The Easy way To Quit Smoking by Allen Carr.
  10. Rarely do I see stuff on the 'net that I think is funny, but I think that's funny.
  11. Jazzfest wouldn't be jazzfest without bagochips. I find him at pretty much every show.
  12. No answer for your question, but I have a Roadstar II beside me that looks very different from yours. Mine looks like this one with a different bridge: http://bobbeaverson.com/Photos/Ibanez%20Roadstar%20II.jpg and my friend JP has a Roadstar II that is a Strat copy. What's the deal with that?

    Happy Easter

Cool. Happy Easter all. Anyone have any idea why the day marking the horrible death of the Son of God is called Good Friday?
  14. Has this been posted already? Al DiMeola, Wayne Shorter, Gary Burton w/ Pat Metheny, Brian Blade, SMV (Clarke/Miller/Wooten),Al Green, lots more. One of the many reasons why I love this city. www.ottawajazzfestival.com

Well, if you liked those, here's a few more: "Aside from purely technical analysis, nothing can be said about music, except when it is bad; when it is good, one can only listen and be grateful." -Wystan Hugh Auden “The challenge for me is writing an instant composition while I’m playing.†-Frank Zappa “Those people who say ‘I can improvise easily’ - they are amateurs.†-Jean Langlais "I'd rather be a flop at show business than to be a success at something I didn't like." -George Burns “Silence is more musical than any song.†-Christina Rossetti "All good music resembles something. Good music stirs by its mysterious resemblance to the objects and feelings which motivated it." -Jean Cocteau “If you’re not going to look interested, there’s no reason to expect the audience to be interested.†-Clint Eastwood “A composer is a guy who goes around forcing his will on unsuspecting air molecules, often with the assistance of unsuspecting musicians.†-Frank Zappa "Music is so naturally united with us that we cannot be free from it even if we so desired." -Anicius Manlius Severinus Boethius "There are only twelve tones. You must treat them carefully." -Paul Hindemith
  16. You can tell he wanted to get out of there - he barely started his cigarette. Though I supppose if he didn't want the attention he probably could have smoked somewhere more private.
  17. Danny Michel and Rudeboy are good bookings.
  18. I think pretty much everyone sees it differently than ollie does.

No guarantee the love will last all day, but I'm still happy.

    No, I cutted and pasteded.
  21. "CBC is a business. Different then most sure, but a business none the less and they're in the business of providing content. A list celerities are content. (or B- list or whatever the fuÇk he is)" You nailed it there. BBT the actor is A-list, BBT the drummer is somewhere just above or below Wassabi. BBT the drummer is of no use to a show like Q that regularly gets A-list.
  22. If BBT doesn't want to use his pre-existing celebrity then he shoulda recorded under an assumed name and kept playing gigs in his basement. As if his name didn't have something to do with, oh I dunno, getting a recording/distribution deal and an opening slot on Willies arena tour. It's like Gene Simmons refusing to aknowledge he was in KISS and insisting that he is a reality tv star, not only first and foremost, but exclusively and entirely.

I typed 'em out for the most part I suppose - I've got hundreds of them. Why, is there a typo?
