"p.s. if anyone is going use priceline! if you pick five star you will probably get the wynn...we got it for 116/night and you can sleep eight in the washroom alone." Sweet! We were afraid of ending up off the strip so we didn't priceline. We were at the Flamingo for about $90 a night.
  6. I think we'll see that happen in a few other countries too. In think Obama has sent word that countries can do what they want with their drug policies.
  7. I got the guy for you. PM on it's way.
  8. Looks like if you avoid the Barney Dansen Theatre and do your stage jumping behind the WIRED tent you should be able to traverse the stages without hitting a 'gate'.
  9. Sarah McLachlan, pictured here at the Grammy Awards in 2004, launched the first Lilith Fair in 1997. The all-female music festival Lilith Fair is returning after a 10-year absence, along with co-founder Sarah McLachlan. Nettwerk Music Group, which helped organize the festival from 1997 to 1999, announced the festival will be returning the summer of 2010. Nettwerk's Rich Adams confirmed McLachlan — who is now writing her first album of new material since 2003's Afterglow — will be involved but didn't specify whether she would perform. Lilith Fair staged 104 shows from 1997 to 1999 that featured lineups of female artists or female-led bands including the Dixie Chicks, Liz Phair, Queen Latifah, Bonnie Raitt, Chantal Kreviazuk and Sheryl Crow. The concerts grossed more than $52 million US, most of it going to women's charities. Nettwerk's CEO Terry McBride wrote on his Twitter account that "Lilith fair will look at doing two weeks in the U.K./Europe in 2010." McBride did not say who would be in the lineup. Vancouver-based Nettwerk manages McLachlan as well as the Barenaked Ladies, Billy Talent and Martha Wainwright. http://www.cbc.ca/arts/music/story/2009/04/29/lilith-fair-return.html

I just went to see the Cirque show last Sunday and I gotta say, if you're in Vegas go see this show. As we sat down my buddy turned to me and said that it was worth half the price of admission just seeing the theatre. I don't know about that but the staging was remarkable. The music was (of course) top-notch and the show was a sensory overload from the get-go. The lighting design was unbelievable; they had some tricks up their sleeves that were just so effective and creative, it was a constant feast for the eyeballs, the earballs, and more. If I had to criticize I would say they are a bit light on jaw-dropping circus acts, rather they create spectacular vignettes for the wonderful remixes done by Martin & Martin. If I had a tip it would be that the 'cheap' seats might just be superior to the first few rows, so don't feel like you need to spend $160. I got my tickets discounted online for $70US all charges included, which is a pretty good price for a big Vegas show methinks. Plus you're sure to win back the price of admission by midnight, right? I won't spoil any surprises with any specifics, but if you can get there, go see this show.
  12. I am in no way trying to criticise your driving skills or comment on you personally, but I think the majority of the time that a cellphone conversation makes a driver act carelessly, they are 100% unaware that it happened.
  13. Which old witch? The crazy asshole that's been living next door for almost a year. I think the dude was crazy and potentially dangerous and he really put a negative vibe on the cool little neighborhood that we have here around 40 Main. He finally got kicked out yesterday, and had his unlicensed vehicle towed. It cost my landlord $6,000 plus $7,000 in rent, but it's over. I'm so glad he got the boot before bbq season got into high gear. Hooray!
  14. If I wasn't hopping on a plane in the morning I woulda been going to this show. They should totally have me doing the big screens for the show tonight - I've done all those tunes with the orchestra over the years and the shows are way more entertaining with the big screens (or so I suppose). I just heard George Takei on Q. Wow, does that guy have a voice.
  15. The passenger in the car doesn't blabber on when tricky situations pop up. Also, on the phone you are always talking or listening. In real-life conversation there are lulls, so when driving a conversation is a side event whereas when talking on a cell phone driving is a side event.
  16. A person who would fill a Thermos or bring a coffee machine to work because they may or may not want a coffee later could arguably be considered a fucking idiot in many peoples books.
  17. A new law that bans using hand-held devices to talk, email, or send text messages while behind the wheel has been passed by the Ontario legislature. The new rules, which don't come into effect immediately, include a fine of up to $500 as the province joins other jurisdictions in cracking down on drivers using the devices. The law doesn't affect the use of hands-free devices such as Bluetooths or using cellphones for 911 calls, but it does include portable video games, MP3 players and DVD players. Global positioning systems will be allowed, as long as they're properly secured to the dashboard. There are no demerit points attached to the bill, unlike in other provinces. But drivers who place others at risk by using one of the banned devices can also be charged under existing careless driving laws. Ontario is the fourth province to enact such a ban, following Newfoundland and Labrador, Quebec and Nova Scotia. http://www.cbc.ca/canada/ottawa/story/2009/04/22/driving-ban.html
