  1. Thanks y'all, and Happy Holidays to everybody.
  2. Dudes I don't think we can rock house shows two nights in a row...just not possible. Sorry to hear about this cancellation though. As for 'Rocky Saugeen', it's the name we've officially given to our house, where we host full-on electric rock shows in the basement. This Saturday night will be the 7th house show since the end of May and they've all been a blast. The house is so named, funny enough, because of a large road sign I found on a trip to Ghost Town one year. The road right before the road to Ghost Town is Rocky Saugeen Road. The sign is now mounted above the entrance to our shed, as evidenced in the following photographs:
  3. Maybe she doesn't have your number Isn't it in his signature? I figured the purple font was implied.
  4. Thought it might be worth mentioning that this is yet another Good Rev band...I'll be playing guitar and singing, with Adam Melnick on bass and Sean Burak on drums. Last time we did this we played two sets of the harder, faster, more raw Holly/Crickets material and it was a resounding success. Looking forward to doing it again!
  5. There's a great rockabilly band in Toronto called The Royal Crowns. Teddy Fury, who tends bar at the Horseshoe, is the drummer. http://myspace.com/theroyalcrowns As far as bluegrass...there's a sort-of revolving door band that plays every Wednesday in Toronto at the Silver Dollar, they're called Crazy Strings and they're exactly what you're looking for James. Maybe you can twist their arm to come out for a weekend.

  7. Congratulations, man, and best of luck!
  8. Ben Somer's new band is Ben Somer - vocals, acoustic and electric guitars Aaron Goldstein - electric guitar, pedal steel Cam Malcolm - bass Eric Minden - drums This will be a fun one. Major Maker features Lindy and members of Small Sins.
  9. I must echo this sentiment. I guess it never occured to me that the day I meet AD, he WON'T look exactly like Freddy Mercury. Oh, and sweet report and pics. Looking forward to hearing this one.
  10. You're the man, Tim - vibes to you today.
  11. Oh so I couldn't handle you, but the PORCH would have no problem? I'm a student in Mohawk College's jazz guitar program; a guitar and PA salesman at Long & McQuade; and a musician for hire, specializing in the pedal steel guitar.
  12. Shit, I didn't make it last night...my 'early' set across town got pushed back to 11:30. How'd it go?
  13. Suddenly I feel that I really want to meet you.
  14. I'll have to look it up for ya next time I'm there Schwampy. The prices are chain-wide though so if you've already been quoted, that's what it is, unless we have a used one...which I don't think we do at the moment. We had a used HD-35 a while ago for $2000...it was an incredible guitar.
  15. It's not really a matter of allegations anymore, man, he admitted to it and has been sentenced. Did you read what he did to that girl? I don't think you'd be shrugging it off as a symptom of the industry if she was your sister or girlfriend (with due respect). He is a degenerate pig indeed...I just wouldn't feel right stepping into the place.
  16. That's exciting. Yeah man...I have an early gig at a studio party but I'll head over right afterwards.
  17. Jenn Grant is fuckin sweet too...you all MUST get there to see her, she's from Halifax. www.myspace.com/jenngrant1
  18. Good points Marco, esp. re: Hamilton Place. Aquarius, Club Seventy Seven - it's not like there are too many shows happening at these places and we need another venue. Furthermore, the guy building the thing owns a bunch of bars in Hess and was convicted of a terrible sexual assault against one of his employees this past summer - read what a dirtbag this guy is.
  19. Holy shit this is sweet! I had to miss the show last night too! What's the cover Brian? And Ike I'll be seeing you on Saturday...I'm supposed to sit in with Mark's band on pedal steel if I can get there in time.
  20. I work at L&M in Burlington. It's true, prices of a lot of products are going down; in some cases faster than we can sticker them. Almost every day I ring something in that rings in lower than the sticker price. Sennheiser Freeport handheld wireless mics, for example, dropped $100 last week from $259 to $159...that's a huge savings. I know I looked up a Fender Blues Jr. amp for somebody and couldn't believe when the computer told me it was $469...that's the first time that amp has been under $500 probably since they started to make it. It's true we're not a mom & pop but the chain is still entirely owned by the Long family, and Jack Long heads into work every day at the Pickering office at 82. It's a really close-knit kind of company and I find they're really good to their staff. Sure it has its drawbacks like anything of its size...but I was a big fan as a customer, and I'm an even bigger fan as an employee.
  21. Man, the gay illustration came out of NOWHERE.
  22. It's sweet...I only watched the first few minutes before hitting the sack but it looks to be hilarious. And it comes with the above poster inside...pretty sweet.
  23. Show was fun. BA hilarious. Bought his DVD. Homewreckers great too. Racoon Wedding was cool but not as tight as I like em. Dead Love Triangles opened (didn't even know they were on the bill). They have a new bass player and are Cobainy as ever.
