  1. ...man, I need to re-read that book, been ten years since I have.

    ok..here we go.

    Another rather easy one...

When was Keith Godchaux's first show & where?

10/19/71 Northorp Aud. university of Minn.

Killer show includes debut performances of "Ramble On Rose", "Mexicali Blues", "Jack Straw" and "Tennessee Jed". A real turining point.

  2. AM has been closest so far, so I'll give him the win.

In Rock Scully's book, he talks about how users of "persian" heroin on tour would be given a daily ration of it. It was smoked through tubes that had been lined with foil, the foil turned back inwards at the far end. Any smoke or vapours that got into the tube but which hadn't been inhaled would accumulate in the turned-in bit; these leftovers could then later be scraped out and used. The scrape-out was known as "rat".

    You're up, 'bama.

    Aloha,

    Brad

i knew about the persian, but not the rat. Good one BradM you learn something new every day. I'm gonna call up my mom and tell her what I learned today! Yippeeee!!!!!

  3. At what point is a question given up on? And if it's decided to give up on a question, and beg the asker for the answer, who asks the next question?

    Aloha,

    Brad

I think that it sould be agreed that when people stop coming up with guesses, or the asker is requested to reveal the answer then, the asker is the reining champ and gets to ask another question.

    ...but we ain't there yet.

  4. Benzedrine?

    Aloha,

    Brad

Nice one BradM Benzadrine it is. Correct! Jerry latter remakred he felt embarassed when he listened to that record as everything sounded so comically manci and all the tracks were short, except Viola Lee Blues.

    obat2.jpg

Charlie Parker and Duane Allman also admitted to using Benzadrine to stay up for hours on end and practice...

    Brad your up...get to it....

  5. Sweet I'm...447424.jpg

    Here goes...

[color:blue]Question: "Jerry Garcia nd Rock Scully have both admitted that while recording the first Grateful Dead album circa 1966/67, that the band was under the influence of a certain drug, throughout most of the recording, and this affected the sound of that album. What drug were they on?

    Hint: It was not LSD...

  6. From where did The Grateful Dead get the name of its publishing company?

    Aloha,

    Brad

Answer: Ice Nine pulishing, got it's name from a Kurt Vonnigut novel in which a special type of "super Ice" that melted only at extreme heated temperatures, as such it could freeze any ambient water to ice around it. It was put forth in the nove, (I forget the name), that Ice-9 could be the thing that destroys the world...

  7. I love his music and hate his politics. He needs to smoke a joint and calm down.

I think the fact he is straight as and arrow leads to his paranoia, gun lust and right wing insanity. He's jyst wound too fucking tight.

Besides anyone who leaved rad psychedlic band the Amboy Dukes int he height of the sixities "'cause they were stoners", is waay outta touch.

Stop talking politics and start writing more arena rock Ted. That's what your good at....

  8. IN YOUR FACE YOU SAD BASTARDS!!!!

ok' date=' ok, here's one..... who plays saxophone on the original recording of "Estimated Prophet"?[/quote']

    Tom Scott.

    i think.

name one of the bands Brent played with before joining the GD.

I'll second that emotion, I think Timouse is right.

  9. Hi AD. I gots some good news for ya', on gutiar with Phil at Bonnaroo will be John Scofield. I saw him in two shows with Phil in NY state this past winter and OH MY GOD! Possibly the best post Grateful dead, dead realated concerts ever.

  10. what trifecta of songs (3) did robert hunter pen in one sitting... "they just tumbled out"?

Answer: Brokedown Palace, Ripple, Box of Rain..

Velevet is on crack ro joking I can't tell which..."Gimmie some lovin'" is a Spenser Davis tune, originally and I fixed the thread titile I didn't see the omitted "i" in trivia. I guess 'casue it's trivial?

  11. Nine times, I think:

    07/31/67 O'Keefe Center - Toronto, Ontario

    08/01/67 O'Keefe Center - Toronto, Ontario

    08/02/67 O'Keefe Center - Toronto, Ontario

    08/03/67 O'Keefe Center - Toronto, Ontario

    08/04/67 O'Keefe Center - Toronto, Ontario

    08/05/67 O'Keefe Center - Toronto, Ontario

07/08/69 Rock Pile - Toronto, Ontario

06/27/70 Canadian National Exhibition Hall - Toronto, Ontario

11/02/77 Field House, Seneca College - Toronto, Ontario

If you throw in the Kingswood show, it's ten. At the Rockpile, they did an early and a late show, so if you count both, it's eleven. Throw in the free show in the park during the Festival Express, and it's twelve.

I'm gona give it to the hammer here he;'s very close. The offical number is 11, all the ones he listed are correct and the coronation park show counts as well. Kingswood shows are not counted as Kinswood resides in Maple, On.

So you are the big monkey now ask a question.... :)
