  1. Ha Ha! I might just try that, but I would put the bacon on the burger and eat the egg separately! The reason I'm so put off by a fried egg on a burger - about 8 years ago I went to Paris for 2 weeks vacation. After 10 days or so of nice restaurants and wine with every meal, I got really severe heartburn and indigestion. It was like nothing I had ever experienced before. I thought a good old hamburger would be just like home, and easily digestible, but the fried egg on top set me off in a bad way!
  2. Good point AD, we planned around that - arriving good and early, park near Prince Arthur and St. Denis, hang out in that area for the afternoon, early dinner in one of those cheap Greek restaurants, and catch the subway to the show. Gonna check out Tam Tams too!
  3. Who's in? The special guest is going to be Win Butler.
  4. My Winnipeg friends rave about the Unburger. Gotta go sometime! However, the first thing I noticed on that menu was the fried egg, which IMO has no place on a hamburger.
  5. Thanks for partying with me on Saturday night everyone! I'm overwhelmed with the turnout. The music was just great. I was too busy meeting and greeting to take very many photos, but I did get a few of Death Cake. The guys were very spiffy looking! Awesome. We raised $150 for the Wild Bird Care Centre too! We dropped off the money there yesterday.
  6. Re-directing the puck with your foot into the net is not against the rules. Rule 49.2 states: "Goals - Kicking the puck shall be permitted in all zones. A goal cannot be scored by an attacking player who uses a distinct kicking motion to propel the puck into the net. A goal cannot be scored by an attacking player who kicks a puck that deflects into the net off any player, goalkeeper or official. A puck that deflects into the net off an attacking player’s skate who does not use a distinct kicking motion is a legitimate goal. A puck that is directed into the net by an attacking player’s skate shall be a legitimate goal as long as no distinct kicking motion is evident."
  7. Attending a Stones concert these days is much like flying - don't discuss how much you paid for your ticket with the guy next to you!
  8. Excellent Todd. I've been waiting to read a review from a true fan, rather than a jaded critic. Looking forward to the show in Montreal on the 9th.
  9. What I realized in my 40s: "Everything gets bigger, hairier, and closer to the ground"
  10. The schedule is up! No Buds for Bob - 9pm Death Cake - 10 pm Mandrake Root - midnight "Come early and stay late!" thanks jaybone, my birthday is actually May 31st (just like Hal!), but it was easier to book the bar and the bands for the party on June 1st
  11. A dismal end to a pretty good season for my team. Just wait 'til next year! I didn't think that 1st Penguins goal was kicked in, it was perfectly legal, just like the goal in game 4 of the 1st round. The reason for the 'distinct kicking motion' rule is to prevent goaltender injuries.
  12. That's right folks, I'll only turn 50 once. Carleton Tavern, 223 Armstrong St. in Ottawa, Saturday June 1st. Three smokin' bands! No Buds For Bob: originals and covers, acoustic/electric country-fried bluegrass rock Mandrake Root: covering Mule, Deep Purple, Hendrix, James Gang, - great 70's rock Death Cake: We all know these guys! Instrumental guitar/drums rock duo. All are welcome! Facebook event page
  13. I think Alfie was quoted out of context. But you are right, his stance wasn't very Messier-like! I had never heard of this Messier leadership award until this week. Who are the previous winners? (besides Messier, obviously!)
  14. Ha Ha! When I first wrote that post, I said 50s, but just to be certain I looked it up. One of the news articles said he turns 44 in the near future. Hard to believe.
  15. Give your head a shake. There no way a 300-pound crack-smoking man in his mid-40s would suffer a heart attack. He is the picture of health.
  16. Could be part of Ford's weight-loss plan.
  17. In my 1st round predictions, I got 5 of the winners correct, and 2 of the # of games correct. 2nd round: Senators in 5 Bruins in 7 Red Wings in 7 Kings in 6
  18. Shhh! I was just trying to make them feel better. :content:
  19. Very fitting that you used a golf to make your comparison, POG Feelin' bad for the Leafs fans! But going through adversity together makes a team better. They'll be even stronger next season.
  20. A lot to be happy about I think with les Canadiens this year. Last year, last place, this year - 2nd. PK had a breakthrough year and may even win the Norris. He'll be even better next year. He's the backbone of the strong power play. And the rookies were good and show a lot of potential for the future. I don't think the team needs a major overhaul, maybe just a few tweaks and more size.
  21. They were just leaving to get an early start on the rioting.
  22. Yay! I thought tonight's game and the whole series would be much closer. The Sens sure had the momentum after stealing game 4. Bring on the next victims!
  23. Tough series Habs fans, such a strong season. Perhaps a touch of "peaked too early", even in a shorter season. Big kudos to the fans who stayed and olé'd til the very end!
