My ticket was row A seat 1, which seemed excellent on paper. However, the stage was about 12 feet high, and my seat was side-stage. Couldn't see a freakin' thing. We moved after the first song and ended up standing in an aisle for the rest of the show. Still, I totally enjoyed this fantastic concert.

Did anyone here go to that show at the Skydome in '99? That was the real reunion show with the great Bill Ward on drums. I had perhaps the worst front-row seat ever for that show.

He was so good. Ten Years After in the Woodstock movie is the highlight. I saw Alvin Lee in 1982, he opened up for Black Sabbath here in Ottawa. (It was the Dio version of Sabbath). The special guest in Alvin's band was Mick Taylor! It is a great rock and roll memory for me.

A sad loss for Canadians. Stompin' Tom was the first concert I ever attended. It was at the Pembroke Memorial Center. I was 10 years old. I remember Tom saying "does anyone here work at Beaver Lumber? - you sure make lousy wood" as he held up his stompin' board. He had worn a hole through it! I also my remember my dad insisting on leaving early to "beat the traffic". In Pembroke.

The Allman Brothers haven't played the Molson Ampitheater since 2005. At that show it was Jimmy Herring filling in for Warren. Chuck tickled the ivories.

Hilarious! I was so impressed with the bluesfest lineup that I bought a pass for the jazzfest last night. Kidding aside though, the lineup is pretty good. It's not 2007 good, nor is it 2010 good, but I still plan to be there every night.

I suspect they'll actually do very little enforcement of the no-smoking rule. They'll just let (some of) the non-smokers shame the smokers. Smoking won't be eradicated at the blues fest this year, but give it 10 years and smoking will be very rare at this thing. I don't smoke cigarettes, but "Smoke 'em if you got 'em" continues to be my motto.

Pretty good lineup! Warrants buying the early bird pass I think. Pays for itself even if you go for only 4 or 5 nights. I'm most looking forward to David Byrne & St. Vincent, still pissed at myself for passing on that show in a Montreal church last year.

That's just your opinion. Sports commentators have air time to fill, those questioning are just doing their job. We're talking about Matt Cooke here, a serial offender with a history of ending careers. My opinion? Cooke was still pissed about nearly catching a slapshot in the teeth in the first period, and his action against Karlsson was deliberate. But I don't think he intended to end his season.

As a self-admitted grumpy old man, I think I have to agree Monahan's statement.

A little context is necessary here: the e-mail was not entirely about this subject, there were many other points of interest to ticket holders in the e-mail as well. Also, the Maple Leafs were not specifically mentioned in the e-mail. I thought the gist of keeping fans of other teams away to be a little odd. If a fan of another team comes to a game, they have just as much right to cheer for their team as I do. The way to minimize the presence of Leafs fans at at the game is for the Senators to consistently beat the Leafs on the ice. But the Leafs look strong and fast so far this year. My friend has been the 'alcohol compliance manager' at SBP since the late 90s. She told me Leafs fans give them the most problems with alcohol violations. Hence the added security.
