  1. My bracket isn't too bad right now. I didn't even have Kansas into the Final Four, and the Orange (who I have to take it all, and for once it's a sensible choice) just steamrolled Gonzaga.
  2. Does it seem strange to anyone else that that announcement gives top billing to Damian Marley?
  3. I didn't know the name, but a quick search showed me that I've been familiar with his work going back some time. A significant loss to Canadian music, to be sure. Here's a fitting tribute:
  4. Funny, those are the exact same two dates they played SPAC in 2004. If there's any truth to those rumours, then for the second consecutive summer it looks like I'll be out West when they play most of their Eastern shows and vice versa. Hopefully, also like last summer, I'll be able to catch a show or two as our paths cross.
  5. Boulder sold out pretty quickly (at least the tickets that didn't require me to sell a kidney did), but luckily I snagged a pair for Denver, just 30 minutes down the road. I'm going to try and trade them for a Boulder pair, but either way I'm pumped. I would imagine these are going to be tough tickets in every city.
  6. Yeah, well that's just, like, your opinion, man.
  7. My Morning Jacket - It Makes No Difference
  8. Damn! I made it all the way through the thread without anyone taking mine, and then you had to go and ruin it. More specifically, I was going to say "Helpless".
  9. Scored cheap tickets out front and made it in for a great show in Colorado last night: Set 1 01 Viola Lee> 02 I Need a Miracle 03 Mason's Children> 04 Bertha 05 Brown Eyed Women 06 Looks Like Rain 07 Estimated Prophet 08 Lady with a fan> 09 Terripan Station Set 2 01 The Music never stopped 02 The wheel 03 Unbroken Chain 04 Shakedown Street 05 Drums 06 King Solomon's Marbles 07 Black Peter ~> 08 Truckin ~> 09 Viola Lee 10 Sugar Magnolia Encore: 01 Donor Rap 02 Revolution ---- Brown Eyed Women and Bertha were both smokin', though relatively short. Second set highlight for me was Shakedown->Drums->King Solomon's Marbles. Drums was short but crazy intense, more of a mid-jam drum break than a stretched out segment. Made for a great centerpiece to a rockin' set. These guys are playing like more of a band - dialed in and moving together - than most of the other post-Jerry projects I've seen/listened to. I was skeptical going in, and still think the prices are a little steep, but it was a great time and none of it felt phoned in.
  10. They're playing just down the road from me in Broomfield, Colorado tonight. Not sure if it's in the budget, but we're going to cruise down, hang out outside for a bit and see if the mood strikes us.
  11. Please everyone, allow me: ----- Whose got my heady keyboard cleaner? (Also: What time will doors open?) Aloha, Brad ----- WOWJESUSGODHOLYSHITBALLSIAMBORNANEW -Ms. Hux ----- Nice. If there's no Trey Stream that night, I'm there. -Basher ----- LOOK AT ME! I'M SAYING SOMETHING INFLAMMATORY!!! -DimaFleck ----- Dima, you make me gooey. -Booche ----- My due date is that week. Anybody know where I can get a babysitter? -Large Marje ----- I wish 40 Main still existed. -Pretty much everyone else ---- I kid because I love. Great to see some news on here that will get so many people excited.
  12. It really is a stunning venue. Really just a hill sloping down towards the lake, plus it's just down the road from Burlington, so there are a ton of places to stay.
  13. I had the exact same thought. Moncton has to have just about the highest metalheads per capita in Canada (at least it certainly does out of all the cities I've spent time in). Should be a wild night.
  14. All of the great human moments of the movie notwithstanding, I think the part I laughed the hardest at was when they showed a one-second shot of someone turning an amp up to 11.
  15. Nice! I should be home (Ottawa) at that point for a few weeks, and have yet to catch Levon since he's been back on the road. Thanks for sharing the news.
  16. Shelburne Museum is a destination venue, for sure. The lawn slopes down toward Lake Champlain, with the high peaks of the Adirondack Mountains in the distance on the other side. As long as the weather cooperates, it should be a beautiful night.
  17. Indeed I have always found Bill to be a great guy. And you are right about Keith, the bass player. I have run into him several times since being in Boulder, and helped out him and his family for quite a while one night in the bookstore where I work. He has always been nothing but entirely friendly to me and hasn't ever put himself on any sort of pedestal. Also, his wife is not ugly.
  18. The show was in Ned at Blue Owl Books - the little shop owned by Vince Herman's ex-wife that sits across from the "big" grocery store. You're right about seeing and chatting with the guys from Yonder and SCI around town, even in Boulder. And it's nice to be able to catch them sitting in during small picking sessions.
  19. Yeah, he's a super nice guy. Went out of his way last night to chat me up and make me feel welcome in his hometown. And man-oh-man he can pick.
  20. Living in Colorado has its privileges. Just went up to Nederland where Billy and Jill were playing in a tiny bookshop (think the size of a decent living room) for 20 people. Say what you will about the Cheese, but Billy's a great flat picker and we had quite the cozy evening, with the musicians passing their bottle of tequila to the "audience" in between songs. Blog Post
