  1. yeah, ive heard it although i dont own the album. i know it was all the rage and it struck a chord with their fanbase because it was the big single off a charity release but i just dont like it. i have no problem with people covering lennon. i just found this one to be forced and a bit contrived.
  2. Ah, yes. I know that song. A little slow on the uptake I guess. I like the Greenday cover of that tune. oh my gosh, its a good thing lennon was cremated, otherwise i think he'd be clawing at the inside of his coffin right now ...
  3. you may still be safe, DB. if tix say doors at 7 and show at 8, that would probably mean the besnard lakes will take the stage at 8:30 / 8:45 and MMJ would come out around 9:30 / 10:15. would be tight, but you'd get in most of the show before you had to take off. show times are always a gamble.
  4. we saw perry farrell's satellite party there a couple of summers ago. it ended well past midnite too.
  5. mmmm, sounds yummy. perhaps because my mom used to make hawaiian pork when i was a kid, ive always thot they were very good companions, not at all "unlikely". goat and mango are great companions too! i think north america (european influences?) has come to see fruit as not a regular meal ingredient. it's thot to be more for snacking or desserts.
  6. 346. Songs about the province/state where you were born by musicians also born in that same province/state.. (the musician can be part of a band, but mention the musician's name and place of birth. It could be just mentioned in the song, doesn't have to be part of the title..) 1. Bill Monroe and the Blue Grass Boys - Blue Moon of Kentucky (Kentucky) 2. Rheos - Christopher - Ontario 3. Neil Young - Helpless - Ontario 4. Rush - Lakeside Park - Ontario 5. Diesel Dog - Ontario 6. Tala - 297-82 - New Brunswick 7. Gordon Lightfoot - Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald - Ontario 8. 9. 10. 11. 12.
  7. there is no way the gm didnt already have the same market information they are claiming forces them to close plants, at the time they signed the collective agreement contract. but they signed the contract anyway. then they said whoops, we gotta shut down. thats just not right.
  8. agree. this is a case of management failing to see the obvious writing on the wall and running the company into the ground. then they royally screw their employees, immediately after sucking them into a fraudulent contract. there should be a criminal investigation here. the irony and inconvenience of the protest is miniscule compared to the travesty of management's actions. im surprised that the CAW hasnt already occupied GM head offices rather than just protesting outside. this has the potential of getting really big and really nasty really fast.
  9. ive never listen to the two albums side by side. i think i will do that.
  10. please please baby jesus. sweet baby jesus. yes!
  11. not as torturous as that poor guy wearing the flashing flyman jacket [color:purple]btw, fuck you marco if you cant take a jam.
  12. wouldnt it be nice to never use phones, tv's or computers ever again. just bbq and swim all day.
  13. i really liked the show. jack's voice was scratchy, so brendan did take over some of the vocals (they sure do sound alike). pretty high energy for most of the set with a few slow moments and perhaps surprisingly, a bunch of jamming. (much more jamming than i recall from the montreal gig a couple years ago). packed hall, with a wide variety of ages. i think i would have liked the black lips opening rather than the sadies, although they were decent. the ltd. ed. print was sold out by the time we arrived (thanks to flippers who buy them up in bulk and sell them on ebay ... oh well)
  14. well, at least its not cream cheese. that would be sick.
  15. black is the new purple, man ... its more fun.
  16. i cant believe minnesota elected this guy governor ...
