you are right, sound does actually travel better outdoors at night when the air becomes more humid. sound travels almost 5 times faster in water than in air. its how you can hear your neighbours at the cottage from way across the lake at night because of the heavy still air. you also hear it better at the show because winds also die down when the sun goes down.

really depends on where you are, but I agree. the sound in there is pretty good for an arena. having the place filled with fat torontonians helps absorb the echo too.

I think Paddy McAloon produced this new Stars cd. For those up on their 80's musical trivial, the name may ring a bell - he was the leader of the band Prefab Sprout, whose pop cult hit Faron Young was produced by musical genius Thomas Dolby. No wonder I love this CD so much! Takes me back to my youth!

That's kind of debatable, isn't it? very much so, that's why I chose it. Ceremony is perhaps the one song that most supports the argument that New Order is Joy Divison, but with a new name and the loss of its original lead singer. The song was written by Joy Divison, lyrics by Curtis, but was never officially studio recorded for release by Joy Division because Curtis died. A live JD version was later released posthumously, but 15 years after New Order released their studio recording. In fact, New Order's first single was Ceremony, but with Sumner on vocals. Ceremony is the transitional piece, and its just as much Joy Division as it is New Order. Stylistically, New Order ventured into areas very different from Joy Division, but to this day, many will argue (myself included) that they remain the same band that just went in a different direction after the death of their lead singer and simply changed their name.

I have removed personal information, but this is what I heard back from a CBC Executive yesterday after I wrote to ask why de Jong is not included. His phrasing is casual, given the context of my email to him, and I dont think this is a form letter, but parts of it may be standard response. I do know that the networks have received a great deal of feedback on this issue, wondering why the Green Party is not represented.
