  1. and when sold out, only half can squeeze into "the zone"
  2. i dont know anything about Wanee, but have been to NOJazz a few times and highly recommend it. pricey place at that time, tho. keep in mind that the those bands at the Jazzfest are playing over two weekends, seven days in total. and that there are a few main stages and many smaller stages with crowds in the 70K to 100K range, making it impossible to get around to see every band you want. but the bonus is that there are many other bands in town at clubs and theater in addition to those at the festival. ive seen trey, sci, mars volta, greyboy, denson and a lot of others offsite there. check here for a pretty full list of everything going on.
  3. this election will be won or lost by how well the tory's are able to play the american style attack game against iggy. and the extent to which they can get away with it. sadly, this will just be another election with nobody voting FOR anyone and everybody voting AGAINST people/parties/leaders.

  5. and what would make it more inspirational and forward-moving?
  6. this is brilliant. thanks! ive already shared it with colleagues. LOVE this sort of picture.
  7. that is a cool name/website address.
  8. i have to admit I enjoy seeing these vids afterwards but I absolutely despise the fuckheads who hold their bright cameras up in front of me at the show. im torn.
  9. no doubt, she was mocked. perhaps the first bona fide movie star to be. but she rolled with it and also mocked herself quite a bit too, especially her many marriages and personal life. five oscar nomination, two wins, plus a lifetime achievement award and held by many as one of the finest actors ever. hundreds of millions of dollars raised for charity, notably as the founder of AmFar. one of the classiest Dames out there. she will be missed.
  10. its big and brite now. very cool!!
  11. P!NK, greatest hits ... so far!!! mmmmmmmm.
  12. yep. ollie's gay. ... not that there's anything wrong with that ...
  13. why? were you hoping for a story about him blowing me in the back garage?
  14. the car was making a noise up front when turning. comes and goes. took it in, fearing the worse. got the call. they took it out for a drive, hoisted it up and turned out to be salt build up on a front strut. they rinse it with water, cleaned it out. no charge. yay for norm's esso in beautiful downtown guelph.
  15. i always look forward to the revelry right below my office when the undergrad pub starts tapping out green brewskis at noon. and of course, having to step over passed out leprechauns to get to the car after work.
  16. jeesh, someone needs a beer ... and quick!
  17. This is more in the real, pure science realm, but it reminds me of a request that came across my desk years ago when I was working in biostatistics at McMaster by something called C4 (Chemical Company Consortium of Canada? or something like that) to conduct analysis to "prove" that environmental exposure to certain chemical compounds did not affect the quality of semen. Turned it down of course because it was so biased, but we all laughed about how hard data collection would likely be.
  18. im having nothing but problems. grabbed some great tix ... including GA Pits for Cinci ... only to have the purchase fuck up because livenation either wouldnt recognize my ticketmaster account or would tell me that my credit card was already on file (in my account). i was unable to complete anything. the fact that i was still able to grab great tix 10 or 15 min after release suggests that they were tix others had initially grabbed only to see them slip away, just like i experienced. ugh.
  19. Saw them a few years ago on a mainstage at the New Orleans Jazz Festival and was super impressed and so happy that I did. If you were alive in the 70s, their stuff is in your head.
  20. and his notes were on an ipad!! he seemed like he had a very fluid and natural delivery, you know, other than he's saying stuff that is so socially unacceptable that it's funny. and he has this really twilight zone sense of timing that leaves you with just enough time to sit and think if you should laugh. funny tension. who does beastiality in their set? too funny. really liked him. but norm is the king. comedy shows are good. nice change from the rock and roll shows.
  21. saw norm in the hammer last night. he killed.
