manu chao seemed like some really high energy fun! i guess not my cup of tea though, i was wanting to head to the black sheep while i watched for a bit. i think if i was in the right place like a crazy street party in rio i would have loved it though

thanks everyone! last night was much better than the previous 2 in terms of lawn chair meanies, but there were still a few out there that we dealt with. funny how smiling and handing a piece of paper can cause someone to glare, yell and swear at you! many standers that we heard complaining were given flyers too for future use and loved them. i hate the confrontations! leaving a flyer on a chair that is sitting unoccupied up front is a good thing too. if you got some flyers they may come in handy on nights coming! i won't be printing up more (though we still have a bunch left) due to the cost but i think the issue has really taken hold, especially as the front page of the citizen today had an article about it, featuring an interview with velvet! also the 'letters' section really does a good job of making our points, even the lawn chair person that wrote in made themselves look bad. heading down shortly to see burnside brothers!

i didn't see him come onstage at the end, but the o canada was awesome! so much fun last night just kicked ass all around.

wow, awesome!! good work velvet! i just printed up 1000 flyers to be distributed tonight. it cost me $50 so if anyone feels like kicking down a few bucks to help out the cause it would be greatly appreciated.

agreed...i've never encountered this problem at any fests in the states, europe, asia, anywhere else but here.

just looking around online and there are citizen articles dating back to 2002 about how the festival is planning to have designated sections. i'll believe it when i see it. quote from citizen july 2002: Mr. Monahan indicated that organizers are now looking into designating certain areas at this weekend's shows as either lawn chair-only or standing-room-only sections.

i hope there will be a map or soemthing showing the marked area. hope it works!!

lol...yep. the security there did a good job. i don't have faith in bluesfest security to do the same. if they don't even have anyone to monitor any areas at all, not likely they're gonna help out here.

let me know how that goes basher it's about enjoying the show for me. if i spend the entire show being pelted and sworn at and can't concentrate on the show, what's the point of going in the first place? your argument makes sense in theory but not in real life.

hehe it's not that simple...you then get yelled at, berated, beer poured on you, and it's pretty hard to enjoy the show. try it sometime!
