  1. Maybe I will, and maybe Ill get to the bottom of this thing.
  2. Ok now, this it too funny. I thought about posting this a while a go, but never got around too it. I too work with a guy who used to be in Helix. Or, actually, he was their "lighting technician and sound guy". Because I feigned interest once, hes told me numerous stories and kept me updated as to how they are doing. He even told me a hilarious story of not too long ago when they got their old drummer back, they played one gig and he got stolen away to Europe by Saga's manager. Then, as if thats not enough Helix in my life, Im in a completely different city at a tiny warehouse picking up some parts for my work when the counter guy smoothly drops the fact that he used to be in Helix. Really, I say. What instrument did you play? To which he replies, almost verbatum to what the other guy said, "oh, I didnt really play an instrument, I was their sound and ligthing guy." No shit, eh? I know this other guy... One of them is lying...but why? All this leads me to believe that theres this conspiracy in Southern Ontario between aging sound and lighting guys that allows them to "Helix" people. Cuz really, who would ever call a guy out for being in the band Helix? No one cares enough. Except for me. I will no longer stand for people pretending to have been in a crappy band. By the way, I was once in the band Moist. oh, and as Bubbles says, "I aint given no fuckin 'R'"
  3. I always thought the same thing. When they changed it a couple of years ago I just figured it was because the nimrods in the NHL had decided that the "Good Guys" were no longer hip with the kids.
  4. Just for the record, i was really looking forward to following the Toronto Football Club well before the news of Beckham broke. Just so no one can say, see, he brought in fans like that big jerk Hal.
  5. I like Gill's quote from a couple of days ago, (to paraphrase) "When we play well thers 20 000 people sitting in silence, when we play poorly they boo."
  6. Anyone go to this? My good friend and cousin were in the opening band, just wondered what anyone thought, if they caught them?
  7. 66 suckas so far. I myself am proud to say I make up at least four of them.
  8. explain? Im not a big fan. Makes everyone look smaller. I guess its a cheap alternative to a larger rimk though.
  9. Presidents choice white cheddar mac and cheese, and wieners. An almost perfect combination.
  10. Thats exactly what Im saying, but I was leaning more towards the, uh-oh, here it is, Im going to use the J word, Jam Bands. Around here we get to see these types of bands all the time and start taking them for granted. Then you go out west and wait for them to tour cuz hardly any band out there is doing the same kind of thing, and if they are, they're in Vancouver and dont frequent the Island all that much. If that makes any sense.
  11. Anyone else not going to Nero? Wanna dress as our favorite dictators and play RISK?
  12. Its tough going from a live music hotbed in southern Ontario to Vancouver Island. You really start to appreciate the scene in Ontario, no matter how dead people say it is.
  13. Cool, thanks guys. Im gonna get on the soulseek, but please if anyone has any more, it'd be much appreciated. And Kev, my pops says the album you speak of is masterful.
  14. Right. Ummm...well...say Bill Doggett and King Curtis to name a few? As for Lettuce, well, theres a lot of stuff out there I think hed really love, and hell probably pursue as he gets more used to this internet thing, but for now he just wants to get started. Thanks for the rec though.
  15. My dad was wondering what a "good" music site is for downloading. Id offer him archive, but he doesnt really listen to the hippy stuff. Hes more in to jazz and R&B. Also, he's worried about contracting viruses and spam like you would through Kazaa or the sort. Hes not looking for anything too complicated either. Any suggestions? Thanks a tonne.
  16. Nothing quite as tasty for me today, but I did spoil my self and buy a bacon and egg wrap off a coffee truck. For some reason these coffee truck sandwiches are terribly scrumtralescent.
  17. I have more, but they tend to be the ones that keep me from sleeping at night... Running through my third base coache's "NO" signal, thinking I had heard "GO," and then getting thrown out at the plate. Last out of the game. No fun. Still bothers me. Awarded a penalty shot at the famed Christmas hockey tourney in Toronto I shot the puck directly in to the goaltenders chest. Sucked large. Got in a fight in the hallway after the game cuz the other team was making fun of me. It was actually a good brawl come to think of it. I pretty much went berzerk. On the lighter side, when I was 4 or 5 my parents said I got a hit in T-ball, ran right past first base and took a piss on a tree. I dont really remember this, but why would they make it up?
  18. Ive got about a billion. But a few stand out. In House League Hockey when I was like ten, I asked to play net one game cuz our goalie was away. I wasnt half-bad, but at one point while the play was at the other end of the rink I noticed a strap from my pad dangling by me feet. so not to trip over it I started to bend down to fix it when I noticed the puck slide by me feet and in to the net. I looked up and noticed that it came from the other end of the ice. BURN! My uncle from out of town was at the game too - he made fun of me for a while after that. Another time I popped up with the bases loaded and kicked first base in disgust - except it was an inground base and I fell flat on my face. I hit my new boss in the balls during a work road hockey game. He left the game saying, "Im perfectly fuckin fine, dont worry about it!" I tried to apologize again monday morning, and he acted as though nothing had happened. I saw his face that day. He was hurt.
  19. Im gonna have "The Music Festival that pleases everyone" at my house this same week-end. Your all invited. Doses at the door and then 72 hours of Wesley Willis. Oh, and 5 buck cover.
