  1. Honestly, it'll help but really, the biggest problem areas are just being swept aside instead of taken care of. Regardless, it'll still be a great boost to Hamilton.
  2. Ok, reading the online stuff from last february seems to provide some better detail concerning location, it would be a lot closer to the downtown core if it goes in the proposed area - The Tiffany Block - 10 minute walk from the Caroline & Hess apparently. Spec today >> http://www.thespec.com/News/Local/article/668365 Spec article from feb. >> http://www.thespec.com/article/516999
  3. Seems nothing has been finalized as for exact location from my understanding, but west harbour area for the velodrome, the stadium & 50 metre pool. Which I would guess is the McMaster University area from the sounds of it (makes sense really) - so not really any closer to the downtown core then Ivor Wynne, just in the west end instead of east. I'm not 100% on that, just going from what the paper is suggesting.
  4. Yep, in the Spec today they had a pic (model?) of the new stadium and supposedly the Ticats will start playing there after the games.
  5. My Daddy played poker on a stump in the woods back in his younger days Prohibition was the talk, but the rich folks walked to the woods where my Daddy stayed Jugs and jars from shiners, these old boys here, they ain't miners They came from the twenty-niners It didn't take a hole in the ground to put the bottom in their face Back in the thirties when the dust bowl dried And the woods in Alabama didn't see no light My Daddy played poker by a hard wood fire Squeezing all his luck from a hot copper wire Scrap like a wildcat fights till the end Trap a wildcat and take his skin Deal from the bottom, put the ace in the hole One hand on the jug but you never do know Son come running You better come quick This rotgut moonshine is making me sick Your Mama called the law and they're gonna take me away Down so far even the Devil won't stay Where I call to the Lord with all my soul I can hear him rattling the chains on the door He couldn't get in I could see he tried Through the shadows of the cage around the forty watt light Daddy tell me another story Tell me about the lows and the highs Tell me how to tell the difference between what they tell me is the truth or a lie Tell me why the ones who have so much make the ones who don't go mad With the same skin stretched over their white bones and the same jug in their hand My Daddy played poker on a stump in the woods back when the world was gray Before black and white went and chose up sides and gave a little bit of both their way The only blood that's any cleaner is the blood that's blue or greener Without either you just get meaner and the blood you gave gives you away
  6. The show is great, awesome set too. Here's some pics from a friend on another board..I check your mp3 source against mine and see if they are the same (mine is megaupload also) Flac download >> http://bt.etree.org/details.php?id=529495
  7. Charging? I dunno, sorta looks like he was coasting at the time of the hit. In my opinion, it's boarding, deserving of a game misconduct at best.
  8. Hey thanks, I thought it was thursday.
  9. Just about anything from The Gourds. To pick a few... Shamrock Bound Burn The Honeysuckle Country Love Pine Island Bayou Ceiling's Leaking
  10. Actually, I have a question here, hopefully someone will know. My printer is out of ink, so if I forward my voucher to someone could they print it for me? Or should I sign into my email at their place and print it out? I'm just curious if my email addres (and name) need to be on the paper I bring to the show.
  11. 200 passes (1+ guest) through the JD website and I believe it was 102.1 (I forget for sure) was also giving away passes. But assuming it's the same as the JD site (200 - 1+ guest) that will still leave 200 from capacity (1000ppl) if every winner & guest attend, so that leaves 200 "friends of" possibilities, and on a sunday I think that's sorta a stretch. I'd still try to be there early though. I wouldn't travel any great distances without knowing I could get in, but if your not busy, in the GTA and want to see the band I'd say it's worth a shot.
  12. I thought Boston played terrible (so far this year that's the norm) but the Habs didn't look all that great either. Dull game for sure. Dull enough I changed the channel before the B's even scored, only to watch the highlights later.
  13. I'd agree with boarding, even with a game misconduct, as the hit does fit the definition of such a call. I do feel the suspension is too severe though.
  14. My previous post stands corrected, I also bought this album and I love it. Thanks for the reminder.
  15. Sadly, Gram's popularity after his death has been huge in comparison to when he was alive. Regardless what McGuinn has said in the past about Gram's involvement, many believe it was Gram that pushed the Byrds to their level of popularity at the time, and that was before the formation of the Burritos in 69. Definitely one of the true pioneers of country-rock/alt.country as we know it now-a-days, at least in my opinion. Although, I'm not really surprised a play would have a better turnout then a tribute show, sad but true.
  16. I'm sure most folks have seen it, but in case you haven't.
  17. Not sure if this has already been posted or not (I suspect it has) but I couldn't find anything.. http://beatles.fanfire.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/Store.woa/wa/product?sourceCode=BEAWEB&sku=BEA48315
  18. Honestly, only album I actually bought this year that was new would be: Haymaker! by the Gourds. Not that there wasn't a ton of good music out there I liked, just for some reason the last two years I've been addicted discovering old music, pre-war blues/folk/old-time and rag-time etc
  19. The Sumner Brothers (from BC) I posted about them on my rarely updated blog.. http://esau13.wordpress.com/2009/10/07/the-sumner-brothers/
  20. Outside of school I tried a bunch of sports, at least for a season. My father coached hockey for many years but I never played for him. Hockey (1975-1989) house-leagues, Huskie AA & AAA, reserve on Jr. B while I played Jr. C Tee-ball (1975-1978?) Lax (1978-1980) Soccer (1981 or 82) Football (1983) I also played hockey for my highschool during 1984-1988 After 89 though, I drifted away from it all.
