  1. Do it guys. I may be drunbk right now but if you go and don't like the band/music, I will refund whatever you paid for cover or buy the first round of beers when we cross paths next. I have that much confidence, they are just that smokin live.

    BEER!!

Ok - 20 beers finished (I drank the other four yesterday), time to hit the beer store then the bar for a few hours then the beer. Been awhile since I was able to put that many back... tonights goin be messy.
  3. Same here my friend, same here. Cheers to em both eh.
  4. I love this show and have heard it probally more then any other GD show since nobody seems to not have it. But for me, today its all about 'Exile On Main Street' (the 22bit Mickboy remastered version) which was released 35 yrs ago today.
  5. Thats awesome. Wish I could make this (I have a due to attend that night), as its been at least two decades since I saw him live, even though I see him around town all the time. Best opening line I ever heard at a show was from Mickey, at the Rockpile circa 1986 maybe, Forgotten Rebels show. Q: Mickey: "what has four legs and sucks cock?" A: "you and your mother" Crazy memoeries, good times.
  6. The United Steelworkers of Montreal are playing. If it were possible for me to get to this I would be there, make no mistake. Do yourself a favour if you like alt.country/bluegrass/folk/acoustic rock or just serious good Canadian drinking music - GO SEE THEM! These guys are the real deal - perhaps my new favourite Canadian band, to be honest. http://www.uswm.ca/ http://www.myspace.com/unitedsteelworkersofmontreal They are also playing NXNE in June, which I plan on attending... I'll also be sharing the show from Hamilton once I get a copy in my hands later tonight, and yes they are taper friendly! (*ahem* looking your way Brad)
  7. Next time he's playing in Ontario, get yourself a ticket. You will not be disappointed. My recommandation would be 'Sweet Revenge' also, I grew up hearing that album and will never tire of hearing it. But you really can't go wrong with any other recommandations posted here either, in my opinion. When we buried my father, we played John Prine for his send off. JP was probally the only artist (for many years) me and the old man ever saw eye to eye on.
  8. This pretty much gets daily rotation around here now-a-days..so freaking good this album, go see them when you can - seriously great Canadian band.
  9. The audio book is alright, I won it here during some contest awhile back. Phil telling the story made it a bit tough to get through though in my opinion.

Eight beers into my day. Fuck yeah.
  11. I always knew Locke st. was a sketchy part of steeltown.

  13. Once upon a time, my advice to you would have been go out and find yourself a whore But I guess I've grown up, because I don't give that kind of advice anymore Gonna be a world of hurt Gonna be a world of hurt Gonna be a world of hurt I was 27 when I figured out that blowing my brains wasn't the answer So I decided, maybe I should find a way to make this world work out for me And my good friend Paul was 83 when he told me; that "To love is to feel pain" And I thought about that then and I've thought about that again and again Gonna be a world of hurt Gonna be a world of hurt Gonna be a world of hurt "To love is to feel pain" there ain't no way around it The very nature of love is to grieve when it is over The secret to a happy ending is knowing when to roll the credits Better role them now before something else goes wrong No, it's a wonderful world, if you can put aside the sadness And hang on to every ounce of beauty upon you Better take the time to know it If you feel anything at all Gonna be a world of hurt Gonna be a world of hurt Gonna be a world of hurt So if what you have is working for you, or you think that it can stand a reasonable chance, and whatever's broken seems fixable and nothing's beyond repair If you still think about each other and smile before you remember how screwed up it's gotten or maybe dream of a time less rotten Remember, it ain't too late to take a deep breath and throw yourself into it with everything you got It's great to be alive Gonna be a world of hurt Gonna be a world of hurt Gonna be a world of hurt World Of hurt -Drive-By Truckers

  16. Yep..encryption and peergaurdian would probally help. I use encryption with utorrent but haven't needed peerguardian yet as my speeds are pretty damn good with my ISP, who also doesn't seem to concerned about P2P use by the conversations I've had with their tech support. (They assisted me solving a speed issues with BT)
  17. I do see your point about the bands (personally I'm not interested in them). But having been to both Amsterdam and Rochester its not too hard for me to figure out, Amsterdam is alot more fun then Rochester could ever be.
  18. Tom Davis interviews Steve Parrish about how he deals with out of control fans and he also asks the fans trivia at the show. Watching it now. Bob's part is great.
  19. Jason Isbel - Sirens Of The Ditch Thanks Newrider.
  20. Not sure on the connection besides being a fan. I have a GD show on 4 DVDs from Radio City Music Hall 1980-10-31 where Franken does a closed circuit broadcast during setbreak which is comedic gold (in my opinion). Interviewing different members of GD about helping poor deadheads (Jerry's Kids) get to the next show, mindless rambling from a very high Bob Weir and a great clip where Brent forgets how to play St. Stephen.. as well, tests to tell if your on drugs and canned ham (or something)give-a-aways for fans who answer GD trivia correctly. Probally not much help, but thought I mention it.
