  1. Definately not the most entertaining festival this year. Is it just me or did anyone find the tulips really lacking in life aswell? Past years I remember so much more vibrance and lush colours. Walking around Dowe's lake this weekend there seemed to be so many more empty patches then there should be. I guess we can blame the weather on this one.
  2. Yeah we picked up the Year of the Dog cd as well and it's very impressive. We could definitely tell it was well produced and the songs all flowed together like one long jam....kept you riding along. Listened to the whole thing then had to put it on again right away cause it was just too good. Good job guys. Is the CD available around town anywhere or just for order? Cheers Steph
  3. Your totally right Dave. And I have come to the conclusion of why most of the old dead heads and such don't come out as much anymore. You can't smoke in bars! Mavericks is cool, you can come and go as you please. Some bars though have no re-entry (not so much smaller bars), but still, after paying $10 or more to see a show, older folks who are chronic smokers and just want to smoke and drink at the same time, will get crank on going out. I know tons of people who just don't want to spend the money on beers at a bar on a weekend, when you can buy a few cheap cases, blare whatever music you want at home, and smoke any kind you like with no one to hassle you. I just think getting older makes you want to be more comfortable and well, you become lazy. So therefore, most people will choose which shows they want to get off their butt for and spend the money. A lot of the younger crowds will head to more shows cause we've got the energy and don't mind spending the money. I'm not saying older people don't have energy, they've just been to they're run of shows and can't get out to every single one anymore. So it seems us as the younger generation just aren't picking up the slack. The scene isn't continuously growing as big, it's growing, just lacking a few seeds. And I think that may be due to our ever so busy schedules, and built up worry...less carelessness as there used to be back in the day. Anywho, I'm gonna continue heading to whatever shows I can just because I love it and the music makes my world go round. I love seeing all you people out there at shows and seeing what the music can do to your soul. Live the life you love..... Much respect Steph
  4. http://www.cancer.ca/ccs/internet/standard/0,3182,3543_14519_84874484_langId-en,00.html Scroll down and it has a few addresses you can send it to in Ontario. Good for you Trevor, thoughtful thing to do for sure. And you've got nice hair...hehe.
  5. What a groovin night! Both bands sure ripped it up, regardless of the amount of people that were there. That's something I truly appreciate. They've been playing music long enough and have probably played so many a empty dance floors, but you know, they love what they do and have that passion. So even if there is only 2 people there, play your heart out for them, cause they'll appreciate it. I sure did, and I think so did every single person in there last night. By the end of the night it was just none stop groovyness and I couldn't stop shaking my booty. Having Dave sit in and a mix up of members from both bands was nice, all just having a good time. Thanks all you beautiful musicians. Keep on keepin on! And thanks Brad for taping, can't wait for the recording....so I can play it to my friends who weren't there and show them what a good time they missed. Hehehe Cheers! Steph
  6. Hey Brad, yeah we got the instant live, have been doing it every umphrey's show we're at and it's pretty kick ass, sounds superb. Also got the UM live in Toronto signed by bass player Ryan. Mmmm he's so smooth...haha. Ciao Steph
  7. Partyin' Peeps Cully! Do it. Leaving in a few minutes. See all you skanks there.... Steph
  8. Happy Birthday, hope it's all that and more. Cheers
  9. Hey yeah Phorbesie, not veggie so I'm open for anything. Thanks M.O.B.E. I've got lots of time for the recipe, probably won't be making it for a few days. But your suggestions so far sound delightful. One question, what exactly does sweating mean? I have a feeling it's like steaming, but not sure. Any tips you have I am eager to learn, as these things will be so useful to know in future cooking experiences.
  10. Hey folks. I'm going to try my hand in making cream of Asparagus soup, and will be my first experience making any type of cream soup. Does anyone have any delicious recipes or tips on making it? I've looked at a few recipes and they all seem fairly easy but the ingredients differ from using just canned broth to cream cheese. I'd prefer it to be a little more thick than watery. Also any other recipes for yummy soups are welcome. I'm feeling soupey these days. Thanks guys. Steph.
  11. Yep, will be there! Heading down from Ottawa with Matt, my bro and some peoples. Getting super stoked too, nice two days off, and some good Umphness. Boogie with ya'll there. Cheers Steph
  12. Hey all. Not much going in on in Ottawa tonight, so Matt and I we're thinking of hitting up the comedy club for a late night show laugh. Anyone care to join? Happy Easter Steph
  13. Happy Birthday Brad! You are the MAN and I love seeing you at every show, wouldn't be the same without your wise light buzzing around you. Keep doing what you do, and live long sharing your knowledge with all those you encounter. Hope this year is all that and more! Cheers Steph P.S. Haha, hart, BEST post ever. I love the links..
  14. Awesome! I saw this at a Primus show, on the Hallucinogenetics tour. They played it at set break, on they're huge white balls, and I was trippin so hard at it. I've told stories about this video to so many people and have wanted to see it again. Thanks man! Makes my day. Ciao Steph
  15. Yeah Sunday afternoon. from 12:00 to roughly 3:00 Also, I will note that there isn't much actual furniture, just a couple futon matresses, and some small night tables. The majority is just boxes. I should mention there is about 3 flights of stairs to climb, but with just boxes it's not so bad. Everything will already be there in the truck, so theres no moving from one apt to the next, it's just from the truck to apt.
  16. Hey folks. Matt and I are in a little rut. We're moving into a new place sunday afternoon, and we thought we were going to be able to move Saturday, but things changed so the help of movers we thought we'd have has diminished. If anyone is in the Ottawa area and has a few free extra hours and a few helpful muscles, it would be so much appreciated. I'm even willing to kiss your feet. Haha. We will supply booze and eats for ya'll, and it will be for a minimum of a few hours, from like 12:00 - 3:00 ish as we have to have the rental truck back by then. We're moving right on Somerset, just past Booth, near Preston so it's central location. Thanks in advance, you guys rock. Steph
  17. My sister studied Anthropology at Concordia in Montreal for 10 years or so. She just found a job at a law firm in Montreal that deals with human rights trials. She loves it so much and is working with amazing people and making a very decent wage. Also, she is planning on heading to work in Afghanistan, and writing her thesis there. As far as I know, a lot of the big job offers she was considering involved much traveling. One came up in the north west territories but I think she had to turn it down. Anyways, do lots of hard searching, I'm sure you'll find something so fulfilling and exciting, that will make yours years of studying pay off. Ciao Steph
  18. Happy Birthday Deb! I hope your day is full of all the love you deserve. You share a birthday with Matt, I had no idea. Well two amazing people born on an amazing day. Cheers Steph
  19. To my one and only love, I wish you all the joy, kindness, warm and fuzzy vibes in the world today. You have the biggest heart of anyone one I've met and you deserve the world and more. I am the luckiest chick out there as you are pure gold and shine with so much radiance and loving charm. Have a beautiful day my love. Steph.
  20. Haha that makes my day, the music is so fun and happy. I vote for this song.
  21. I definitely think Slowcoaster has a spoonful of jazz in their mix. It's a more bouncy kind of jazz, but it's with no doubt present in their sound. I've been seeing these guys for years and that's one thing I've always loved about them. They turn rocky/ska to lounge/reggae. It really freshens up the mix and keeps it funky and not boring after 3 songs. Kudos to the boys for evolving so well.
  22. On my way there now. Ready for some east coast lovin. Ciao Steph
  23. I worked at a pizza place back home in Moncton called Pizza Delight for 5 years. Our donairs were like none other, served on a flat pizza dough cooked with spicy donair beef and cheese in the oven then garnished with the thickest donair sauce you'll ever see, lettuce, onions and tomatoes. I've seen people from all over come in and ask to by a bulk amount of our sauce, and also ask for uncooked dough and meat so they could bring it back with them. Pretty famous stuff for a long time. If your ever out east or near a PD I suggest stopping in and trying one out. You may or may not like the thick stuff, but it adds a edgy spin to your regular pita. Mmmmm oh man it's been years since I've had one of those.... why did I have to go and make myself crave one now.
