Tuesday, June 30th, 2008 Canada Day Pre-Party & Lee "Scratch" Perry After Party at Lee's Palace - 529 Bloor Street W, Toronto ON $10 - 9:30 pm - 2:30 am Confirm your attendance on Facebook here: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2470850906#/event.php?eid=34012488032 featuring: Dubmatix http://www.dubmatix.com http://www.myspace.com/therealdubmatix The Chameleon Project http://www.chameleonproject.com http://www.myspace.com/chameleonproject DJ Chocolate www.myspace.com/dj_chocolate Muva Soundsystem http://www.myspace.com/muvasoundsystem and more... Dubmatix http://www.dubmatix.com http://www.myspace.com/therealdubmatix Music runs deep within the veins as does the various musical styles Dubmatix drops - from pure, old-school King Tubby dub to the freshest electro/steppers dub to classic conscious roots to Drum'n'Bass and more. Having imprinted his name in the mind of the reggae fans across Canada & Europe with one of his first-ever releases back in 2004, the Toronto-born producer is now firmly established as one of Canada's premiere reggae/dub artists and with two chart-topping releases behind and the new "Renegade Rocker" just coming out, the future looks brighter than ever. The Chameleon Project http://www.chameleonproject.com http://www.myspace.com/chameleonproject The Chameleon Project delivers sleek and progressive dance music, using all the tools at their disposal. Urgent and infectious beats meet deep pocket angular grooves. Surprising textures and cleaver arrangements unite in an atmosphere where anything can happen for the sake of the groove. This tightly knit trio pushes musical limits while remaining melodic. With backgrounds in improvisation, jazz, electronic music, dub, and funk they lay down dance music with a brain and improvisation with a purpose. Extracting the musical innovations from the masters of the past and the vanguards of today, the Chameleon Project distill their disparate influences, the likes of Roni Size, LTJ Bukem, Grant Green, Miles Davis, Chic, Funkadelic, The Grateful Dead, Little Feat, & King Tubby, into a cohesive sound that delivers exciting soundscapes and dangerous beats. This is a band that you have to experience live. No two shows are ever the same. Be prepared for anything, but count on moving your body while thoughtful melodies and pastoral textures entrance your mind. 8. I'd personally love to seem them again - nostalgia or not - Trey is still a innovator of the guitar and the group playing & repetoire of Phish is still relevent to me. The Trey & Mike (aka Grab) show at the Hummingbird centre was hot - I can't think of many other shows I've seen in the past 4 years where I've been blown away buy sheer musicianship ( Scofield w/ Phil Lesh, Oliver Schorer, The Slip, MMW are others)...

  12. the festival you guys are playing looks great! I've known the Trews guys since 1996 - then they were just a bunch of young rockers - great to see them have so much success! I can only think that with the right break - this could have happened to Burt Neilson Band.
  13. I leave on June 10th - don't think i'll be there fast enough to see Radiohead - that would have been awesome! I bought my flight through FlyZoom - $650 return! Pretty good deal I think.

  19. Heya! I'm pretty excited because my new girlfriend, Karen, and I, will be traveling together in France for 10 days starting on June 10th. She's actually already down in Italy on a short summer school session, we plan to meet in Nice, France - then find our way to Paris. I've been to Paris already twice, so I'm looking for some info on some interesting sights and ideas. Have any skancs had some interesting travel experiences in the South of France and / or Paris? do tell! -jay
  20. This band is one of the best I have ever seen come out of Canada. Highly recommended!! Their music concept is that of using real world nature sounds to create drum loops - their CD and DVD are really great - check it out Ottawa!
