  1. sorry to Lure - but this is just not in the cards. Evolve is only 10 days away! holy cow!
  2. The "jam" scene might be dead - but music in general is not. Right now it's morphed into something entirely different - I'm into promoting music for music lovers. Alun Piggins is playing with JSB on Aug. 3rd in Toronto for those interested!
  3. Alun Piggins <- I hear good things. The line up is pretty indicative of where the Canadian Jam scene is. Dead.
  4. Hey Everyone, Jay from Irie Band here - giving you the Irie update - we're playing this Sunday at Pedestrian Sundays Festival in Kensington Market - we've got the lead spot - playing in front of La Palette - at around 6 PM - along with Samba Elegua & Nunca Antes.. (that's just south of Augusta St. & College St.) that's going to be our final Toronto show before we make our second trip to the East Coast for Evolve Festival! We're hoping to come back to Come Together Festival (and play late night in the Saloon) but we're unsure if that is in the cards - email wilcometogether@hotmail.com if you'd like to help make it happen! We've also posted some new songs on our myspace page... check out our killer version of "Hey Joe" - it would be nice to hear your feedback! We're pulling out some other classic songs to put a reggae stamp on - any songs you'd like to hear that way? Check out the songs here: www.myspace.com/iriebandtoronto Upcoming Irie Band Tour Dates: July 29, 2007 6:00 - 8:00 PM Pedestrian Sundays - Kensington Market Toronto August 1, 2007 10:00 PM Wilser Room with Dub Antenna Fredericton, New Brunswick August 2, 2007 10:00 PM A' KHORD with High Plains Drifter Saint Johns, New Brunswick www.highplainsdrifter.ca Aug 3, 2007 6:00 PM EVOLVE MUSIC FESTIVAL Antigonish, Nova Scotia www.evolvefestival.com September 1st, 2007 10:00 PM Barrie Caribfest
  5. DJ ?UESQUECEST www.myspace.com/makeitfunky :: www.nufunk.ca ::funky breaks::global rhythms::rare grooves Straight out of Toronto, DJ ?uescequest history is brief and sketchy. Throwing down beats between sets at live events is his signature, sharing the stage with Femi Kuti, Wassabi Collective, God Made Me Funky, King Sunshine, Moses Mayes, Soulive and many others at Toronto's El Mocambo, The Docks, Rivoli, Reverb and Gypsy Co-op. As a part of Toronto's the Make if Funky Crew, DJ ?uesquecest has worked with DJs Fort Knox Five, Mat The Alien, Kid Gusto, All Good Funk Alliance and Big League Chu.

  8. actually let me re-phrase and say that William and I brought them to Toronto - William has been championing them for quite sometime - and for good reason too!!
  9. 1985 VW Westfalia Campmobile - good times!
  10. Big fan of Soul Jazz - I brought them to Toronto for the first time way back in 2006 when I was doing the NUFUNK Fridays at the Gypsy Co-op - at that time they were woodshedding in Ottawa doing their weekly at Babylon - now 2 years later they are major stars in Toronto - have had the front page of the NOW magazine and gigs with King Sunshine, Gilles Peterson, Elastocitizens, John Kong & Jason Palma. Highly recommended - I enjoy this band much more that Mr. Something Something - however Mr. S&S have a way more engaging lead-singer - I think it's because they are more true to the Afrobeat spirit - check out songs like "Mr. President" - Afrobeat with the overtly political message is where it's at. Great show - though - Steve Murphy Band seems a bit of stretch for an appropriate opener - I'd go if I wasn't playing somewhere that night.
  11. lol- I'm trying to figure out how all these mutant super hero rock stars are going fit in that small red car!
  12. Do you think that SCI will continue without Billy? Is this SCI's last stand? I would be happy for them to shed a bit of their bluegrass sound for the more exploratory electro sound.

  16. thanks for the band advice, i'll look into it, but it's really 3 weeks out, and I don't think it's really a possibility - our line up has been finialized for a couple of months... however!!! Gratefully Deadicated Sound System has just been added!!
