  1. You know who you are. Get off the internet and rage already.
  2. I'll be impressed if I even make it to 50. Amazing run indeed.
  3. And here I thought that I was just awkward.
  4. BradM and Northernwish I would be pleased to live with but all the while I'd have to be careful not to cramp their style. (Brad's neighbourhood fits all of my criteria - good call, Dave-O)

    Apples made of sand...certainly.
  7. I've already spent far too much time in your apartment, Sean - that being sent I'm glad we've shared that excitement and still get along.
  8. I want to make sure that I can wheel my little bass rig down the street on a folding hand cart without getting jumped and without having to carry a weapon.

Apple is upping their spending on Semiconductors by 54% next year. ARM is going to be a great company to own stock in.
  10. It sure seems to have worked for you! I was truly spoiled in downtown Vancouver and want to ease back in from country living) - bars/music/restaurants are secondary to me at this point but I don't want to paint myself into a corner. older homes and bigger trees, close to markets and transit please. If I can get an amazing space for under $800 a month (I'm looking online with little luck for incredible apartments...so neighbourhood is making a difference) then I'm set. High ceilings, studio/loft apartment with decent plumbing and lots of windows...I'd be almost anywhere in the city for a place like that especially if I could make all the noise I'd want.
  11. Moving to the city and I'm looking for a good part of the city to live... Centretown/Hintonburg is my first thought, but where else is worth looking for a great space within walking distance to amenities and is still affordable (cheap) to rent?
  12. or...get the record and put some effort into listening to tangible media. There's nothing inherently wrong with pretense...but a facade can seem lame and get tedious when there's a bit too much disconnect.
  13. Holy crap - scamming people must be big business. Here's an email that I found in my junk folder today: That "Rosemary Peter" must have a great job.

    Storm?

Seems to have totally missed me here near Merrickville but did anybody get hit hard today? the thunder and sheer enormity of those clouds is keeping me from settling into my hammock outside.
  15. Somebody had better photoshop a blue ribbon onto the end of that line.
  16. So...Walkman phone, noise cancelling headphones, great intentions, and an "I need to finally listen to these tracks" mentality were all packed and ready to go this weekend. I was at the lake, tent on the ready by the beach, late at night...almost perfect time and place to listen to music, right? Almost. Most of the music on my Walkman were mixed for loudspeakers and not for headphones. Great to pick apart guitar parts and sweetening, but the stereo image made me want to turn my head now and again. So here's a question: Are any bands specifically mixing tracks for their on-the-go and headphone listeners? Binaural approach to the album/EP? Are any bands admitting to mixing mostly on headphones and then just referencing in monitors to set levels for listeners into loudspeakers? I often wondered why I'd keep listening to albums over and over again when I have so much other new music (that I haven't even heard yet) and I think it's mostly because of this. Of course this may change come the fall, but with more time commuting maybe not. With bands releasing vinyl and giving digital downloads and CDs away with the records, would it not be reasonable to have another mix for headphones as the giveaway? Also, I was recently reminded that music for vinyl needs to be mastered appropriately. Has anybody ever had their needle jump out of the track because it was mastered for CD by mistake? (It's alright to admit you've put cheap indie records on your hi-fi spread)
  17. Just get the prints and frame them if you really like camp that much. Buy one LP (hope it comes with the CD) and you're good.
  18. targethifi.com - great store, lots of used gear. Maybe It's worth noting that HiFi isn't like vintage guitar gear. You're not going to get better sound out of older gear when we're talking about solid state stuff. It would be worth your time to listen to everything in your price range, even if it's new. If you're hoping to find serious deals and surprises, I wouldn't count on the second hand shops in London having great stuff but dundas street east may be worth a venture...mybe you'll get a new lamp or knick knack. I would also check out the village idiot in Wortley Village (south of downtown closer to the brewery) - if you're into being on foot and bike (got paniers for your vinyl?) and exploring the city (weather permitted) then it's really a nice part of London. A walk from target hi fi through the market, stop for a beer at chancey's, walk down to the river and down to the village...a bit longer than if you're in the car but you can walk to wellington street and stop in at Matt's music (guitar shop) along the way back.
  19. Maybe you're right...After all, Luke could have got a rash in the river.
  20. Hmm...something tells me that there was no beach action for Mr. Bowden in Ottawa.
