  1. From there, The Turtles threw a bit of a curveball by going back to music they did with the late Frank Zappa, including working in a portion of Zappa's classic Peaches En Regalia. I'm pretty sure the writer should of done some homework since those two lunatics joined Zappa after Peaches.
  2. I've been able to catch a few acts when I visit my homemtown over the years and this festival is really well run and affordable: $10 bracelet gets you in to every venue. It's all blues here folks, so if you like the blues, then you'll have a great time. Even if you don't, you'll have a great time. The headliners have been announced and they are great: Shakura S’Aida, orogressive blues slide-guitar legend Sonny Landreth, the greatest living blues harmonica player James Cotton and Canadian legends Downchild Blues Band. I'm going to see Landreth and Cotton. Hell, Cotton was Muddy's harp player amongst many other greats. http://www.kingstonblues.com/schedule.html
  3. It's ironic that since Ben's been married to Laura Dern, both careers leveled off.
  4. Cute! Happy birthday!
  5. Thanks to the wild and crazy and yet highly enjoyable new David Milch (Deadwood) show, I'm addicted to that show's great theme song, "Johnny Appleseed", by Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros. Here's the original video:
  6. Han shot first no matter that Lucas tried and failed in convincing anyone older than 30 into believing: http://www.hellblazer.net/2007/07/23/recursion-shot-first/
  7. Are you talking about Leslie West, one of hard rock's most influential guitarists?
  8. I used to love Ben, but the focus of his music has been less on his innovative guitar playing and more on the band and I find this distasteful as a fan and worst of all, it makes for a disappointing time in concert. I've heard from a few people that his new album is supposed to be great. I hope it is.
  9. Yes I know he is Dave. I just think gas cars have to go away period.
  10. What I'm saying is, if water cars become more popular, it'll just add another new stress to the water-table. Water is literally drying up and it's negligent to find new ways to waste it. I'm don't walk the walk and talk the talk just yet - few environmentalists do - but I'm definately watching and learning from my daily habits. Watering lawns and/or having giant lawns is bad too. The US still wants to divert Lake Ontario to feed the midwest states. This is a terrifying idea.
  11. I thought Stewart was going to go at him at one point, and then beat up Sting for old time's sake.
  12. I agree with you too with water being fairly emission friendly. Electric cars should be brought back with organic re-usable batteries. It's all true about water, especially in Canada. I can't imagine using water in cars en masse and seeing people drinking malaria/typhoid-infested water in water-plagued countries.
  13. I see he's still with the same boy-toy.
  14. However, I think water as an alternative for future car fuel etc... will eventually be just as, or more expensive than oil. Our environment is fucked and the water supply will dwindle according to the climate changes.
  15. I'd rather buy a house than waste precious water to fuel a car. Yes, I live with an Environmental/Urban Studies major.
  16. In the front row of The Police show tonight.
  17. I'm thinking that if I want to buy a house in Leslieville or in north Riverdale, I'll sell my car in two years and use that money as a down-payment. I won't buy another car. They are clearly money-pits. I'll be a transit man, but if I need a car, I'll rent one or use a ZipCar. I'm thinking hard about getting a Vespa.
  18. Crank up some My Morning Jacket Luke, like Lay Low or One Big Holiday, and enjoy your day.
  19. And given that the Live Earth show was mostly killer (sorry Dave-O, but Kanye ruined "Message In A Bottle"), the Toronto gigs were probably on par or better.
  20. I've seen nine. I want to see Tool, The Raconteurs and The Hold Steady.
  21. Maximum 7000 combined compared to 16 000 at the Amphitheatre or 14 000 at the ACC.
  22. I think Anthony is a great verse writer and singer, but can ruin songs by writing a generic chorus.
  23. I loved The Raconteurs' Austin City Limits performance and for the life of me, I'll never understand why that particular show limits great live bands like Ryan Adams, The Flaming Lips, My Morning Jacket and The Raconteurs to just 30 minutes. Those were some of the best concerts on that show but were unmercifully shortened.
  24. I think The Raconteurs are lower than normal because they only have one album under their belt. That being said, when their new album drops later in the year or early next, they will blow up big in concert.
  25. The RHCP's put on some brutal concerts thanks to Anthony and his continual pitch problems. Lose him and they are one killer band.
