  1. Those are pretty weak songs on the Myspace site. For the non-initiated, The Soundtrack Of Our Lives are one of the best bands I've ever seen in concert (the Opera House show from 2003). Their albums are fantastic - mix in the Beatles with The Stooges, Pink Floyd and oh yeah, The Who in large Moon/Townshend doses. Check them out on Youtube for some low-fi fixes.
  2. I'm going on Thursday. You can get a wristband at many places for $28 (which gives you access to every show at the NXNE fest), but I've heard that you can still buy tickets for specific gigs at the door at most if not all clubs. So, I'm going to get there early on Thursday and try to buy tickets.
  3. What is an Akron Family? Are they anything like the Sutters?
  4. No, I think Lidstom is an unbelievable defensemen and I admire his ability to play an effective game and being non-physical at the same time. I'm a fan of physical defensemen and always have been. Bourque was never one of my favourite Bruins either.
  5. Really? I cant help but be biased towards smooth skaters. Why do you hate him? He's one of the best defensemen of this generation, but I don't like him. He plays a sneaky dirty game. I'd love to have him on my team however.
  6. Whoa, what is Professor Poindexter doing here?
  7. I didn't think much of it at first and I don't really care too much. Both Kelly Hrudy and the NBC crews isolated the play and said that Alfie did it deliberately. I hate Niedermayer.
  8. TSN should keep Roenick and fire Pierre.
  9. Jack and Meg are still working out the monster title track to the upcoming album Icky Thump, but man, this Later version is raw and powerful. I like the new country blues tune "Effect and Cause". Jools jams with them on the Get Behind Me Satan track "My Doorbell" and Jack does some nice bass work. Don't miss this band at the Ottawa bluesfest and/or every other fucking Canadian province and territory: White Stripes on Later with Jools Holland
  10. I just picked my jaw up off the floor after watching a live trio of songs by The White Stripes on a recent Jools Holland show. Don't miss them in Ottawa. They'll bring the blues almost as heavy as Muddy.
  11. Mad World by Gary Jules (from the Donnie Darko soundtrack) is a haunting masterpiece and better than the dated upbeat 80's original by Tears For Fears.
  12. If you are really concerned, call the club: (416) 535-0613
  13. I'm not going to work and will be at the show in August in T.O. If you live in the GTA and plan on hitting this sucker up, and you should, tickets are available at Rotate This for $15. I'm sure they'll add a $1.50 on top of the price, but maybe not. TM adds at least $3 as a "convenience fee", but I'm heading to Rotate This this weekend. TM is a well-know soul-sucking entity.
  14. iTunes is a nightmare to navigate. I don't have the time for a third party to get involved and I don't even know what that means. The songs I need are: Heroes - David Bowie I Wanna Be Sedated Pretty In Pink - Psychedelic Furs Valley Girl - Frank Zappa Radio Free Europe - REM The Killing Moon - Echo & The Bunnymen How Soon Is Now - The Smiths What You Need - INXS Why Can't I Be You - The Cure Sabotage - Beasie Boys Uninvited - Alanis Morrisette Let Forever Be - The Chemical Brothers Float On - Modest Mouse
  15. My wife came up with this brilliant idea to make a mixed CD for her friend's birthday covering tunes from every year she's been alive. I don't have all the tunes, so where's a good and easy site to download tunes for burning purposes?
  16. "Dream Police" from Cheap Trick's Dream Police
  17. "Distant Early Warning" from Rush's Grace Under Pressure.
  18. "She's So Cold" off The Stones' Emotional Rescue

  20. Davey Boy probably could fill the list with his brother's tunes.
  21. Hell and high water don't pay well.
  22. I get double-time and a half thanks to being in a union. I'm not sure I'd get a lieu day for being off sick either, but yes, I would get paid for being sick, just not the big bucks.
  23. I just checked and the Toronto show is on a stat holiday. That means I won't be going since I'm scheduled to work. They are a great band, I'm not passing up 2X 1/2 for 12 hours.
