  1. NBC repeats Office episodes throughout the weekend. Check your local listings. I hope to god my signal wasn't screwed up.
  2. McCoy Tyner is equal with Oscar Peterson, although I love the sparseness of Tyner's soloing.
  3. The song that puts Two From The Vault into my all-time favourite list is Good Morning Little Schoolgirl.
  4. I'm convinced that the title track helped nudge improv soloing into rock and roll. I think My Favourite Things is one of the greatest jazz songs ever and Coltrane and McCoy Tyner's most spellbinding collabortation.
  5. Two From The Vault is one of my all-time favourite live albums.
  6. Both One and Two From The Vault are must owns and I prefer this series (although it is very short by comparison) to any other in the Dead's cannon. I can't wait to get Vol. III and hear some more Pigpen era Dead.
  7. Check out the amazing guitarist Django Reinhardt (best tone and taste ever) with his equally impressive partner Stephane Grappelli on violin: http://youtube.com/watch?v=K6nkHJQnEPs&mode=related&search=
  8. Here's a live performance featuring three incredible jazz guitar legends, Grant Green, Barney Kessel and Kenny Burrell http://youtube.com/watch?v=AKW40qCeql8
  9. I just got this from the MMJ forum: M. Ward will be performing on Late Night with Conan O'Brien TONIGHT Thursday, May 17th. M. Ward will be joined by an impressive band of friends including Neko Case, Kelly Hogan, Jim James (MMJ), Mike Coykendall, Than Luu, & Adam Selzer to perform Chinese Translation from Post-War.

    best band logo

A Canadian band I was always luke-warm towards, but thought had a great logo was Days of You. Someone please find and post their great logo.
  11. Get anything from the late great guitar genius Lenny Breau.

    Toronto Pizza

Surprisingly, a central and downtown Toronto pizza sucks - including the overrated Amato and the drunken refuge The Big Slice. However, the Magic Oven on Broadview just north of Danforth makes some of the best pizza I've ever had. Also, at Broadview and Danforth there's an excellent family restaurant/bar called New York Cafe. Order a pizza there and TRY to complain about Toronto pizza sucking. Try the Little Italy and Corso Italia areas if you want good pizza options. Toronto only has nearly half a million Italians.
  13. Not so much those plotlines' date=' but Sam and Diane drove me up wall right quick.[/quote'] When the writers threw Fraser into that mix, the show was hitting on all cylinders .
  14. Sometimes comedies can't maintain the humour for longer than 30 minutes (23 minutes without comms), but I think The Office can for the most part. It's not like NBC has much of a choice to fill up an evening schedule since they really only have three or four good shows.
  15. And hour-long programs are 43 minutes tops without breaks. You won't know the difference on DVD or scanning through commercials with a PVR.
  16. Next season will see NBC produce 30 Heroes (6 being a short-run spin-off called Origins) and 25 Office episodes (6 or so being hour-long). It may be a last place network, but this is exciting news.
  17. Between talking to Booche from work long-distance, watching the Sens game and checking out the last few innings when my boss finally went home, from what I saw, A.J. was excellent. He's not all there mentally, but when he is, man, can that kid throw.
  18. The Soundtrack Of Our Lives - June 7th and 9th at Healey's for the NXNE fest. The White Stripes @ The Molson Amphitheatre in July. I want to see Derek Trucks @ the Toronto Jazz Fest too.
  19. Here's their Letterman performance of Sister Surround from a number of years back. I think it's one of the best pure rock singles of the decade: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-LCI1lNQ_6U
  20. If you don't know them 'tube, you should. They are right up your alley.
  21. I've seen Oteil's solo work before at the now-abandoned 360 in Toronto. He puts on a great show and his band is excellent. You won't find a better bassist playing a small club with Oteil's kind of pedigree.
  22. It's from a reliable source of mine. One of my favourite bands (and best live bands) are playing the new Jeff Healey's as part of this summer's NXNE showcase on June 7th and 9th. I have to go and so should you all.
